I have attended this bhasm aarti and it is so energinzing. Bhasm is from the freshely burning pyre, and it brought by aghori sadhu accompanied by dogs because dog is the vahan, and I actually was surprised to see dogs in the temple following that aghori sadhu at 4 am in the morning.

@@rajivkapur78 Ujjain is my hometown. Around last Simhasth district collector banned it due to ill practices happening at shamshan ghat. Today, they prepare bhasm from flowers, bel patra and cowdung. Aghoris are a part of this puja and therefore only they bring it everyday. Also, youtube is to blame that the video appeared on my feed after a year.

Hey Lingas accurately, Shivlingas are always referred to Shiva, not to Vishnu. And you understood it right, that Jyotirlingas are considered the truest manifestation of Shiva accessible to humans, but Mahantji was saying that texts don't tell how exactly old the Shivling, the stone form/idol is??, we can derive the timeline for the temple foundations, but the Linga is way older than the temple itself.

Bhashma aarati is the ashes of dead cremated in funeral. So form and structure dissolves to merge into infinite formless and structure less, "Nirakar". It symbolizes how Shiva the formless over the day becomes the Shankar with form which is beautified on the evening. It is a profound view of life & death and the need to celebrate both. A typical Sanatani viewpoint. One must realize by self reflection how a brahmin family after conversion forgets it's own own identity and tragedy is that Brahmins are supposed to be custodians of Sanatan faith. Since you claim being brahmin, you can guess what happens after change of faith that your own traditions become foreign to you. I appreciate your balanced presentation.
