Earlier this month, a train derailed in East Palestine, a small village located near the border of Ohio and Pennsylvania. The accident caused multiple cars carrying vinyl chloride to spill their contents onto the ground, leading to water and air contamination after a fire broke out. The incident has raised significant environmental and health concerns. To shed light on the issue, Scripps News reporter Chloe Nordquist speaks with Dr. Juliane Beier, an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, to find out if we are safe from vinyl chloride.
