I love how the new tank looks! As for new pets I really want to see crabs they are such cool little critters but... I adore mudskippers too! There is another guy I watch who has some 2 kinds and he put a puffer in the water part of one tank they do well together and it's really fun to watch them eat! He said they need 'brackish' water but another I watch said they can live fine in just fresh so...sounds a bit confusing but I'm sure you will work it out and maybe some of your viewers have them too and can help also? Looking forward to next session!

Idk how I feel about the cave aquarium becoming a paludarium, I think it is the best scaped tank so far, and it would be a shame to take it down. Maybe change out the cave fish for some cardinals and add some shrimp to combat the algae? Anyways, love the tanks and keep up with the great work!

Thank you for this informational video, I love your enthusiasm. I immediately knew what you meant about natural stuff looking natural. It’s looking fabulous, and I personally wouldn’t add plants in the water. I’d just plant a few ferns on the top, and voila. It looks so natural because you have sourced the materials from the river and woodlands. Those little branches with the lichen growing on were stunning!! Mosses and lichen are really beautiful plants that can be a statement piece without anything else added. Just want to say that it’s a good job you weren’t wearing your stylish crocs + socks when you went gathering your woodland supplies, getting tangled in those vines could have ended in tears 🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣

YES! You have to add aquatic plants. It is an absolute must for newts. No option. Floating plants like Water Sprite, Riccia (Crystal Wart), Java Moss, ect, are their favorites. They rest in them, lay their eggs in them, and use them for alot of other things as well. Most newts are fully aquatic. What species are you getting???? They also like cold water. 60 to 65 degrees F. Well, i guess in the UK it would be 15 to 20 Degrees C??? Lo What is your ambient temp in the studio? l Have you thought about a chiller?

Interpet brine shrimp, daphnia (water fleas), tubifex and bloodworms are great for your newt. I've my little bud, Steve for about 15 years now and no one knew anything about Chinese fire bellied newts so it was always touch and go. still learning about him xD there's not too much info out there for their care but do keep an eye on forums online. any info is always good. Java moss and fern is great for their tank. Elodea too Never use gravel or anything smaller than a newt's mouth. You don't want them to get impacted. Same with sand. Smooth rocks and or reptile carpet is great to line your tank with. It's nice and easy on their belly.

I like how the new plaudarium is looking now, the contrast of the green to the grey is really nice. I think plants underwater would detract from that, at most maybe a lily/lotus on the surface? but thats it, just a single feature plant rooted in there, and rest of the plants keep them away from the water.

I’m on the fence about plants in the water portion 🤔 It does look really cool with the stark split of under water and above water. But also like what about trying some aquatic grasses? Do you have any normal hair grass? It grows a lot taller than the dwarf hair grass. It would be cool to see it grow out of the water along the left corner and back fright corner I’m also going to vote for crabs! I have red claw mangrove crabs. Cute little water spiders lol. Mine are brackish though
@fin35724 жыл бұрын
Try a mix of Hikari sinking wafers and carnivore pellets for Timmy (TIMMAH!) - they work great as a staple for musk turtles - The varied ingredients more closely mirrors these opportunist feeder's diet in the wild and you'll see more natural growth. They'll also munch on duckweed if you have excess in your other aquaria. Bloodworms and live crickets are great 'treat' items - but be sparing. The tank is an excellent one for a young musk - keep up the good work.

Mudskippers are great, I have a tank of them right now. Do keep in mind though that those guys can jump pretty high. Their Dutch name actually translates to Mud Jumpers. They can easily jump 30/40 cm high. So you can only keep them in a tank with a lid on top of it. I actually used a terrarium tank for them for this reason.
