All this examples may be to simple. I noticed a huge percentage of people including those with PhD in physics fail to understand newton's 3rd law when there is a mechanism like say a gearbox with floating body with just input and output connected. They still think that force's will not be equal and opposite and they think force multiplication is possible despite the fact that gearbox body is not connected to anything.

When a ball is thrown vertically downward, is this the example of third law ball hits the ground and goes upward but at the same time when a heavy things like stone falls downward it doesn't go upward.
@thespartan452116 күн бұрын
This is due to inertia. A heavy object needs more force to be set in motion. A stone is heavier than ball hence it needs to be thrown with much more force to be able to bounce back.I hope this helps.

What force is pushing a rocket into a vacuum ???
@IvanSwanepoelDev3 ай бұрын
The force pushing a rocket into a vacuum comes from thrust, which is generated by the expulsion of high-speed exhaust gases in the opposite direction. This process follows Newton's third law of motion, which states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

But.... isn't The Batman pushing on to the ground due to his weight?
@christinejackson66307 ай бұрын
Yes, but that doesn't mean the gravitational force on Batman and the normal force on Batman are a force pair described by Newton's third law. Such pairs always act on two different objects.
