I get you. I am 39, pushing 40 soon. I have a full time job and I have 5 kids and 2 grand kids. I am busy with life. I get maybe 1-2 days to work on Gunpla alone. I have always wanted to revisit the D, lol. Because I built it back in the 90s as a birthday present when I was 10-13 years old. And you are doing it justice, my dude. To be honest, I have been interested in getting back into ships, spaceships and modern aircraft again. I built all of those when I was young. But I want to go all out, now that I am an adult. Follow your path. Because those who enjoy your work, will stay. I know I am

I am so glad you are doing the Enterprise D. When those hanger doors opened and the Enterprise lights came on I cried as all the memories of sitting down as a kid with my Dad to watch the next episode of the next generation just came flooding back, and we all knew then that episode 10 was going to be amazing, and I was not disappointed one bit. looking forward to the next vid.

Man...I feel like I just post the same comment on every video but you just keep on putting out some outstanding work. I found your channel in late 2020 and picked up a gundam kit in 2021, I just finished my 50th Bandai kit last week using loads of painting tricks I've picked up from your videos. I understand why you might not like long spans between videos but my dude, there's no need to be down about that or apologize. I love seeing your updates on social media and when the videos come out it's such a treat. Thank you for everything you do, keep on doing it, and keep on inspiring the rest of us to find our passions and enjoy an amazing hobby.

I'm honestly super stoked to see this! I snagged a 1/1400 vintage D at the last IPMS show here in VA, though it's not in clear. I've been excited and TERRIFIED of doing this kit lol As for you not putting out as much content because of the new little one, bah life live my dude. Spend the time with your kid, before long they'll be slamming the bedroom door and telling you to give em space. But share your hobby with them when they get old enough. I'm 49, my son's 10, and he's already into building kits with me. He's built about 6 gundams on his own now (with a little of the dad magic when he can't get a part to fit right)

I remember building the Enterprise-D when TNG first started. I didn't know what I was doing back then when it came to modeling. It was pretty basic. She was accidentally knocked over and destroyed when Generations was in theaters. I'm tempted to do a rebuild because of this video and Picard S3.

Lovely work mate, really enjoying watching someone who knows what they're doing. About 25 years ago I was asked to do a repair on the Enterprise C filming model at a travelling Trek exhibition here in Ireland, unfortunately the miniature was way to damaged for me to do anything. Whilst I was there we had to send the large Enterprise D model back to Paramount, about 4 of us had to physically lift it up and put it in it's custom packing crate. I remember feeling very happy with myself, actually getting to handle such an iconic original model.

Thanks for sharing your passion. The D and TNG is what got me into my love of Star Trek as a kid and yes season 3 of Picard was great. I must of re-watched the unveiling and launch of the Enterprise D in the episode, "Vox" at least 50 times. I've built the kit your currently building as well as well as the 2016 version and they are brittle(and yes the aztec decal application does test your patience). Round 2 is going to re-release her in a milky white plastic that is also supposed to be able to easily light. Look forward to part 2.

When I was 12 or 13 I started working on my own Enterprise D model, and I am pretty sure it was the same mold that this kit was made from. It looks exactly the same, except mine is gray plastic. And me being a procrastinating 13-yer-old perfectionist, I decided I was going to add lights and carve out holes for the windows. I ended up not doing that. But what I did do was hand paint the aztecing. I managed to finish the secondary hull, and then late teenagerhood kicked in and the unfinished model sat in a box for 25 years. Two years ago, I fished it out, and decided to complete the saucer section. Again, hand-painting the aztecting. It took six redos until I was satisfied. Now I am in the final touches -- detailing the phaser strip, hand-drawing the NCC registration (hopefully), and other grace notes that might not be precise, but are distinctly me. And someday I will connect the two sections together as a tale of 13-year-old me and early-40s me. Sure the two sections are little different, but it tells a story.

Also yes Star Trek Picard Season 3 was freaking awesome. The fact they tied loose ends... bringing Data back...even finally beating his evil brother Lore. Also not only that he has full human emotions. I got emotional watching Geordi trying to get Lore to listen to reason and help him save Sidney and Data finally broke through and he dropped the force fields. I then choked up seeing the Enterprise-D reveal in the Starfleet Museum. The fact it was a hybrid of the refit saucer from Generations and then a TV production version of the secondary hull from the U.S.S. Syracuse. I just found it weird that was just....available. Unless the saucer section of the Syracuse was destroyed during the Dominion War. Then of course seeing the recreation of the Enterprise-D's bridge. That even got me choked up even more. Was it a true 100% recreation of the TV version? No but it was pretty damn close. Even the TNG cast had big emotions stepping onto that bridge. Even Will Wheaton when he was behind the scenes with Michael Okuda. I'm glad they gave us a proper send off for the D and that she kicked ass fighting the Borg in one final glorious fight. Beverly kicked ass manually firing the phasers and torpedoes. I will admit I was hoping they re-created the Generations version of the D's bridge since that's what we saw it last as. However, I understand why they went with the later TV version of the bridge. Oh...and also seeing the D leave the bay and going into warp, priceless. I also got major chills of excitement seeing the Defiant, Voyager, NX-01 Enterprise REFIT, the HMS Bounty and last but not least... the Enterprise-A! I was like...holy shit they restored her brand spanking new.

This is looking really good. All of your color choices for the different areas of the saucer are spot on, at least to my eyes. I loved that you toned down the aztecs. I noticed that a lot of modelers don't do that. That's their choice but to me, those patterns should be toned down to act more as accents. Adding the blue lights to some of the windows came out nice. I think that may have been part of the "Generations" studio model upgrade.

A thing to note when masking the windows from the inside you can also use masking fluid as well. It will take less time than masking tape but doesn't have the possibility of accidentally falling off if the adhesive on the tape fails.

Very cool I can see why this going to take 4 months. I haven't built this one but with the clear variant of this and the plastic being more fragile is there any need to re-enforce some of the parts that could potentially sag down the road? I was thinking some copper tube or thick flat stock could be glued into the kit to keep it true over time. I wish this kit was more widely available.

During covid I had to find things to do, so as first contact is my favourite star trek film I decided to watch TNG on Netflix, I watched all 7 seasons it's now my favourite star trek show and is the reason that the Bhrams line and anti borg fleet are some of my favourite ships, more recently I've watched Picard, I loved season 3, as well as DS9 which I'm going through at the moment and equally enjoying, however there was a bit of a sadness I felt watching DS9 S3 E10 defiant because I think it's probably the last time I'll ever watch something new to me with Riker in it and that's sombre in a way. Nevertheless I love the Galaxy class and its contemporaries like the challenger, new Orleans and Chyenne classes, less so the freedom As much as I love first contact, the D is my enterprise even if I didn't particularly grow up with it

Great job on this build. Did ever finish it? I had gotten this kit a year ago via ebay. It's snapped on me in several places on the neck and the secondary hull. Even accidentally broke the area where the stand is supposed to go. Round 2 has come out with the same kit but it's in translucent like their 1/1000th Voyager as well as current kits for much easier lighting. I just wished Round 2 would have taken the perfect opportunity to add in the missing windows forward of the Captain's yatch. The greebles on the top aft part of the nacelles like in Generations. Maybe modify the back of the neck to be more correct to the studio model. As well as correcting the windows around the saucer and adding them into the secondary hull. At the same time I also wish they could have just done a whole new kit...maybe a bit smaller scale to keep the cost down. But have it accurate to the studio models from the 6 footer and Generations. Have the options to make it the TV version or the Generations version. As I said too have it completely accurate to the studio model. Also have the entire ship not have raised aztec patterns. Even though I think on the 4 foot it's that way. Still.... ya these clear kits were too fragile too brittle.

I hope you show more of the final finish build than you did on the refit because i really wanted to see the shuttle bay and arboreum all lit up and the 35 seconds of final build footage was extremely anti climactic after two videos of waiting to see ALL the details of the whole completed model. I was soooo let down that i didn't get to see every detail of the finished build all lit up . The final result should have been 10 minutes of footage from every possible angle instead of a quick motion picture fly by. I was totally invested in seeing the outcome in detail and it was taken away by the fly by reveal. 😢 I mean...why invest so much time into the shuttle bay and arboreum if they're not going to be on camera at the end?
