Hisoka murdering Neon after his fight with Chrollo makes a lot of sense. During their fight, Chrollo said that his chances of winning was 100% and asked Hisoka if he still wanted to proceed. That sounded a bit too arrogant even for someone as powerful as Chrollo, unless he was assured of his victory prior their fight thanks to Neon's ability. And considering how Kurapika was busy with his new roles as a Zodiac member, it wouldn't have been that difficult for Hisoka to get to her. After all, he easily managed to kill Teradein , a double star hunter, in his office at the Hunter Association's headquarters.

I really like how Hisoka changed after being defeated and tasting death. Before he was all about a fair fight with his opponent having all their tools, but now he wants blood and he's not willing to take any chances. Before it was about fighting but now it's just about killing. And Hisoka was already incredibly dangerous in a straight up fight but now we get to see just how dangerous he can get, not to mention that his nen is more powerful than ever. I wonder if this new Hisoka would've fared against the ant royal guard.

Fr this perspective change is massive for a man with Hisoka’s ability. He enjoyed the fight to its fullest extent by “putting his life on the line” but his confidence ultimately led him to fight someone with the skills and intellect to kill him. Now after his defeat and post-death nen boost he will still enjoy it although instead of a fight he wants a massacre fueled by his desire to be the strongest again.

He lead Meruem into a trap, launched a sneak attack and then gave Meruem the condition that he had to defeat him without killing him to get his name. All the while going all out and trying to kill Meruem. If Netero couldn’t scratch Meruem with all of that Hisoka doesn’t stand a chance no matter what tricks he tries.

Interesting. I saw a video about this stating the reason Kurapika rose to the ranks of the Nostrade family is because Neon's father asked him to return Ghost Writer. Hisoka had 0 motive to kill Neon as he doesn't care about fate. The theory is Neon was the first person to have Steal Chain used on. Kurapika used her as a test dummy.

I like the last option because it just makes the most sense. Kurapika and several other members of the Nostrade family are currently aboard the Black Whale, but we haven’t had a single mention of Neon being killed. Not everyone is as cold and rational as Kurapika, so I have a hard time believing they would have just shrugged something like that off. Especially not a character like Melody.

I could also see "fixing what Chrollo did to Neon" as an explanation for how he developed the ability stealing chain in the first place. He didn't have it in Yorknew, or else he would have just taken Pakunoda's ability, read her mind to identify and locate the Troupe, and gone hunting; but I could see him tinkering with the idea after seeing that Chrollo can steal other people's Hatsu.

I think it's the reverse. Why would the people who were Neon's bodyguards suddenly be able to set off on a dangerous journey without her? She's still part of the Nostrade family, so she would be a target. If not for her abilities, then at least for ransom. If Kurapika was able to take over the Nostrade family, it makes sense to keep the people who are already working for him employed. Just because Neon died, that's no reason to fire Basho and Melody. Especially since he's already formed somewhat of a bond with them. Regardless of whether or not Melody shrugged it off, life does go on, and having financial security is a good thing. Kurapika is also aware of Melody's true goal and on good terms with her, so maintaining that relationship makes sense, since he's another pair of eyes to stay on the lookout for the cursed music. And being in a position of authority at the Nostrade family might put even more people at her disposal. It's also unlikely for them to bring it up all of a sudden when busy with work. Kurapika and his allies can't contact each other whenever or say whatever they please at this moment, so that makes it even less likely. It's something that might come up between Kurapika and Melody at some point in the future, though. Just don't expect it to take the form of someone asking what happened to Neon since there's not really a reason to ask that in-universe. Everyone who knows who she is should know whether she's alive or not. And neither are you likely to just reminisce over someone's death.

Hisoka can kill her, but Neon's also under Kurapika's protection, right? think once Kurapika knew of Hisoka's intention he found a way to disable Neon's Nen itself, cutting off Chrollo's access to her nen ability. Probaby a version of judgement chain that's weaker but can be used outside the spiders.

There's 1 major argument in favour of her being alive though. Namely the fact that we don't know why or how Kurapika developed steal chain. And it'd be 100% in character for him to create an ability like this specificly to try and counter Chrollo. Especially since Kurapika is probably one of the few people who knows Chrollo can steal abilities, seeing as he also did it to some other maffia members.

Let’s be real, at this point in the story Kurapika is one of the scariest nen users in the world, and I don’t think people who know what he’s capable of would go around making an enemy of him lightly. He’s a nen genius whose ability works like a Swiss Army knife of hatsu, and he obviously holds a grudge like no other, so the risk-reward of a Hisoka or Chrollo messing with Neon (whose ability is useful but not absolute) wouldn’t be very worth it. I think it’s actually very possible that Kurapika was the one who restored Neons ability, with a condition being that she return his family’s eyes to him. People just assume that the eyes introduced during Yorknew were just automatically recovered by Kurapika, but they actually belonged to Neon. Neon doesn’t seem like the type who would easily give up one of her prized collections, so it stands to reason that Kurapika would have to give something of even more value, like the ability that made her family rich.

I'm going to predict option #6. Neon is alive. Here's my thought process: After the death Squala at the hands of the PT, she saw how her maid broke down. She can't use Lovely Ghost Writer, making her really see that her father just doesn't give two shits about her. She asked Kurapika for help faking her own death, and he realizes as long as Chrollo had her ability, he would know she was alive. So, he asks around and learned of Abengane (or even some other Nen exorcist, he's not the only one). Once Neon has her ability back, Kurapika helps her fake her death by getting her to promise to live a normal life (no collecting human body parts, or he'd threaten to kill her himself). He sets a trusted associate to keep an eye on her. Then, he uses Light's weakening position to take over the reign (maybe have Light killed by a rival family). Once Light's out of the picture, Kurapika can use his intellect to build the family into something else, using other methods to gain money and power. Kurapika has hold of the Nostrade Family. Neon's got her ability, not Chrollo. Everyone except Chollo is happy. Since Kurapika helped hide her, I doubt finding her would be an easy task. (Sorry about the length, I'm having a bad bout of insomnia and I can't sleep, so I'm rambling a little bit.

I'm leaning on your last option my man..This option will give the fans a 'SURPRISE FACTOR' which every author wants....One thing you forgot to add in that option is that Kurapika is very likely to deduce that Chrollo is the one who steals Neon's ability or Kurapika might have know it on the moment that Hisoka attempts to kill Neon..He might have fake Neon's death because he knows Chrollo or Hisoka will relentlessly targets her...Or Kurapika and Hisoka might have made a deal.....Remember Kurapika is one of the most intelligent character in the series..

Well chrollo nen steal ability is only possible if the person he stole from is still alive. If he can't use the ability anymore then neon is dead. Now this is assuming if her being resesatated doesn't mean chrollo has to steal the ability again to use it. Sadly what happend with the nen ability sun and moon was a very unique circumstance that likely won't be able to happen again. But hisoka killing neon makes sense That being said if neon dying and then being resesatated could also be a loopole to lifting the nen curses since most curse condition are till death, not after/beyond. So it's possible she escaped koropika curse by dying, then having someone bring her back it moments after dying.

A lot of people seem to underestimate Chrollo by thinking that he needed Neon’s fortune telling to win. It does increase his ability to make the right decisions on how to go about things but I don’t think he needs it to win a fight. It greatly increases the odds of winning but if the fortune gives a line that says he would die, I don’t think he would even be there to fight. The fortune telling would by then just become a burden and something that would taunt him every time he uses it. I think he would just rather get rid of it instead of using it at that point.

If hypothetically, neon is captured by a rival gang and they lie about her getting her ability back, he has to deal with the headache of possible paying millions to billions of dollars just to get his ordinary daughter back. The other characters in the show already didn’t like him and showed us that. Once his way of being a mafia member was gone he was easy picking. We see this in the Black Whale arc at one point. 3. The Mafia understands the intricacies of nen, so they have no reason to kill neon and lose her abilities forever when they could just let her be, as she's completely inoffensive, and maybe wait until she gets her powers, or not, it's sweat off their backs. 4. Kurapika is still working for Nostrade. His bodyguard group is on their name, and he still needs support from the underworld to search for the eyes. He won't just let them die like that. It would mean losing his footing in the underworld, and would also be a bad look if, as the boss of security for the family, he lets them all die. He's never getting any jobs or any respect again. Makes no sense to call themselves that if the Nostrades are all dead. They also don't act like their old bosses were murdered. The Nostrade family organization is already established and comes with with power already. This is why Kurapika was given the title “ Young Boss” The only thing that changed was the position of the head of the family. The boss now is Kurapika and with his type of field of work it doesn’t matter if the Dude died or not. Death with bosses are normal in his field of work. Kurapika goals are the scarlet eyes and that alone.

There's a chance that if this theory is true that it may be based on the myth of Loki tricking another god into killing Baldur, in this myth loki disguises himself as an unassuming old woman to learn the weaknesses of the allegedly invulnerable god of light Baldur who deeply loved by all the other gods which is similar to how much all the phantom troupe members love each other and once loki learns what the weakness of Baldur is, Loki tricks Baldur's blind brother hodr the god of darkness into killling him. If the theory about illumi secretly being hisoka is true, then not only does hisoka disguising himself as illumi perfectly mirrors Loki disguising himself as an old woman to learn Baldur's weakness but that it could be allude to hisoka disguising himself as illumi so he can trick some of the other phantom troupe members (who essentially see each other as siblings) into killing each other.

I am still impressed that literally on the spot after reading 1 copy of a Neon poem prediction (his own) and hearing a couple others read out loud once by Chrollo, Hisoka was able to texture surprise not only several lines of poetry but in the style of Neon's ghostwriter (Chrollo has several poems about the troupe now so would be suspicious if Hisoka's was of "roses are red violets are blue" quality lol) AND make it a plausible future given the context of his situation. Does this man's genius know no limit? :D as for who "killed" her.... I am not 100% convinced she is dead though death is the mostly likely way (and so far only way we know of) that can delete you from Chrollo's book. She could have died and been revived. It's a rather common trope in supernatural or martial arts fantasy stories to have poisons or other spells that can temporarily kill people to misguide their opponents (such as tricking Chrollo so he doesnt go after her again) only for them to come back after the effects wear off. It is possible that Kurapika acquired something like this to restore Neon's powers. But yah, I could also believe she is dead. HxH is a dark story and large volumes of people die every arc. I get that Hisoka gains from this, but I am not sure we will get as basic an answer as Hisoka killed her. I will hand it to Togashi that after so many years since he wrote York New he didnt forget Chrollo has this ability or just ignore it and never address it lol. He made sure he removed it (somehow, up to our speculation so far!). Maybe he even had a plot thread already planned for its removal that is eventually going to be revealed in this arc now.

The whole time I’m thinking she’s still alive and glad I stayed until number 6. I believe there’s high possibility that she is still alive and that Kurapika aided in the restoration of her power using a nen purger. Hisoka could even be instrumental in referring Abengane to Kurapika because they did have a working relationship as hunters. It’s also known to Hisoka how Chrollo got the power and where he got it from and knowing Kurapika worked for the Nostrades, it’s easy money to refer Abengane and also greatly beneficial to his plans against the whole PT. Knowing that Kurapika is the Nostrade’s top guard, I find it unlikely for Hisoka to get under Kurapika’s skin by killing the very person he’s guarding. Even if Chrollo found out she is still alive, he is in no position to hunt Neon himself to steal her ability a second time.

A Hisoka attack on Neon would make a lot of sense, but I think I would looking for other possibilities as well like a Nen user who can undo the stealing of her ability. (e.g: something similar like a nen exorcist or Nanika wish/command or maybe other unknown but strong specialists who can do such a feat.)

There is option #7 that I always thought of, what if when kurapika used the judgement chain on Chrollo making him lose his nen as well as his skill hunter. so all the abilities that were stolen were deleted because his hatsu vanished for good. implications for this argument being that all of the abilities that Chrollo used were never any of his stolen abilities prior to his nen curse.

I don't think Kurapika taking the ability would work. Remember in the Chimera Ant arc, Shalnark tries to control an ant, but fails because it's already being controlled. The ant controlling it says it's first come first served for manipulators. It could very well apply to stealing abilities as well.

Plus Chrollo's ability were very unique in that the ability was being borrowed from the person, the person had to continue to live in order to supply the power from what I understand. I will say that Kurapika hasn't had a moment of mourning for Neon - which he likely would, if he knew she had died. His complete lack of such thoughts is my strongest indicator that he either 1) doesn't know she died, 2) had a role in reclaiming her power as you suggest, or 3) both, with 1 after the other.

I always had a suspicion that Kurapika was the one who killed her based off the last few panels of that family containing Kurapika's reaction to the family's downfall. His Motive being that he couldn't let the connections and power he built up with the family continue to be squandered by the Nostrade family. So he essentially mutinied and took over the family, perhaps to maintain what he's built, perhaps to strengthen his ties to other organizations that were at odds with the Nostrades.

I think it’d be fun if it was like a combo of some of the theories. Like Kurapika is at a standstill. His access to the Hunter site and leadership has kept the family afloat, but he’s at a standstill on finding the eyes. He comes up with the theory that his Steal Chain could cancel Neon’s nen curse. Figures he has nothing lose and best case he gains access to one use of Lovely Ghost Writer. But he can’t predict his own future. So he makes a deal with Neon. Her ability back for the knowledge he needs. And she agrees, but asks Kurapika to use his one use of the ability to tell her father’s fortune (she’s not really welcome in his increasingly unstable presence). Kurapika agrees, makes the attempt…and it works! He tells his former boss and uses the fortune telling on him to prove it. Ability goes back to Neon, Kurapika gets his fortune: Seek crowned death On the journey beyond the land of man But beware as crimson eyes turn inward You will cease under their continued stare Meanwhile, old Light eagerly open his fortune, eager to hear of his revival: The bleeding cannot be stopped Those shadow swimmers Push you deeper as you drown Crimson eyes covet all you have Your small role chained to his grand play. …and thus, now knowing there is no hope of rising again and getting back what he lost, Light finally snaps. I've never thought of kurapikas theory before but it makes sense. her me out, what if he made an agreement with nostrade to hide them? after neon loses her ability they are pretty much targeted by everyone. kurapika figure out that chrollo was the culprit so, he might steal neon's ability but not using them yet. if neons power back and light act up again, that would be useless.

I assumed it was either Hisoka or Neons dad. Hisoka obviously wants to weaken chrollo. Neon's dad because crazy and despair filled after Neon lost her ability, so he might have lost it with Neon and ended up killing her. I think Neon's dad saw her more as a tool for his success but she ended up failing him, so he took it out on her.

Yo. Quick theory… I don think Gon had completely lost his ability to use Nen. Ging told Gon that he returned back to “ normal “ instead of not having Nen entirely over the phone call. I believe that Gon will have to relearn Nen and reopen his aura nodes, and with this it allows him to be able to come back into the story. I think he’ll use the longer route to reopening his nodes, and this’ll benefit him a lot when it comes to regaining control over it and probably strengthening it.

This makes sense because Chrolo probably wouldn't try to get it back with the threat of Kurpika. Sort of a risk out weighs the reward situation.
