Modern trains are equipped with microprocessors, multiple levels of software, and numerous subsystems. The R211s are essentially computers on rails, more advanced than their predecessors from just 15 years ago. In this snippet, we'll explore some of the differences between the R211 class and the R160B and R188 classes from 2006-2016. Stay tuned for more details in our upcoming full video.

Your videos are very interesting. It would be nice to have a glossary video or some kind of write up explaining the abbreviations to copy and keep on hand as the various videos are watched. For example what's TLC, TCMS, RS and LS TCN, etc. lol

The R160 still uses an RS and LS TCN setup connected to a TLC, but it operates on the older LonWorks standard. In contrast, the R179 and R211 use an Ethernet-based TCMS setup.
