I can watch all evening, it is totally amazing something built over 100 years ago, no computers, no special equipment, so to say, and it is still around today and serviceable. I've seen structures built less than 10 years ago that are falling apart. Thanks for presenting this.

When the bronx was burning this line was called the ho chi ming trail because of so many buildings were burnt out and destroyed.You could look out the window of the train and see the devastation. Many times the trains would be stopped because of an active first re near the ell

Didn't know the MTA actually had fourth rails! Does this mean that every extra rail on the tracks is a fourth rail, or is there sometimes these extra rails that aren't fourth rails? Is there a way to distinguish them?
@NYRTIG
@NYRTIG Ай бұрын
That's a great question! No, it doesn't. Additionally, there are Guard and Emergency Protection Rails in place to help prevent derailments. This supplemental return setup (4th Rail) is found only in a hand full of locations throughout the system based on certain criteria. One way to identify it is by spotting wayside return cables connected to the track.

Certainly, we'll revisit this topic in a longer video, delving into impedance characteristics along with single and two rail track circuits when we discuss signals. We must also be cautious about what we disclose, balancing between sharing insightful information and respecting confidentiality. This balance has been carefully maintained in this video. More to come.

There's a second tunnel from 59street lex station. It's a ramp u can see on the Astoria bound train at 59st lex station. It was built so that trains after lex Ave would climb a ramp to a open linking the trains back on the queensbourgh bridge. However it was scrapped. What remains is a ramp and an island platform behind the door you can see at 59th Street on the Astoria bound side. There be even 3 however the second is right next to the 60th. The second was built around 1941 just before they was stopping service over the bridge in 1942. The platform is still there's so is the ramp leading up to the. Bridge.

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the short! Producing route remixes is indeed a time-intensive process, involving track prints, schematics, and thorough research. We're committed to continuing this series, and next up, we plan to complete the A train with a Metro North route for Volume 4. We'll come back to the IRT after. In the meantime, we can cover the Pelham line in our shorts format. Is there a specific area along the line that you'd like to learn more about? Let us know!
