Your film struck me as a beautiful haiku-like piece showcasing a wonderfully alive woman whom we should all admire. As a masters' swimmer who took up the sport in my 50s and in my 70s continue to learn and improve, I really appreciated your grandmother's desire and determination to learn something new and do it . The amazing sensations and magic of being in water is well conveyed in your piece. And, particularly as a former Stanford doc program alumna who made a portrait about the women in my family, I could relate to "Soak" and appreciate your well-crafted and lovingly presented narrative. Hope many people, young and old, see your film. It will put a smile on their faces and remind them of how it's important to keep 'moving' at all ages, to laugh and possess a positive mindset.

"you have to get my age to appreciate your age and that's a pity. You have to get older to realize how many years you wasted." I'm 45 and I've been thinking about this a lot lately so I've been walking in the woods daily for a few hours and to swimming in the wild and in the cold more recently.

The sentence really stood out for me too. I’m 44 and have just completely changed my life and started living it for myself and my husband and our animals. I feel like I have been given a gift several decades early.

Gravity doesn't appear to be your friend when you're in your 80's. The weightlessness of swimming makes sense.
