I'd really like to see Kara run a business herself instead of spending her time insulting everyone who's attempted to balance customer expectations and a set of employees at the same time. Maybe she could start with a Burger King or Hardees and then she can tell everyone how much they should be paid. If business leaders listened to everything she's said there wouldn't be a startup economy for her to complain about. I wonder does Kara tip her drivers when she takes an Uber?

In California, Uber is getting $6.80 per mile after fee's, then paying drivers $0.59 cents per mile, Driver pays for Gas costs. Uber keeps $6.00 per mile! Driver must also pay for all car costs, insurance, etc, out of their $0.59 cents a mile.

breakintodance707 they are using Aws(Amazon web services) as an analogy. For amazon AWS was the most profitable part of the business and it was developed separately from its core business. So the lady is asking what is going to Uber’s AWS, if it’s Uber eats or some other business that they have. And Dara responds saying that the ridesharing business meaning just the driving portion is going to be profitable and that is Uber’s version of AWS. I hope that helps.
@robinrienerth65214 жыл бұрын
breakintodance707 He's pronouncing the calculation method of EBITDA as one word. Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, ___________ Depreciation and Amortization
@jeali4 жыл бұрын
Basically he is saying the future growth of the company is far more profitable than the past. The last 2 quarters, the growth in revenue (not existing revenue), 80% of it went down to EBITDA (revenue with only current operating costs taken out). If that's the case, he goes on to say in the next 2 years they will get probably 8 Billion more business (growth) of which he only needs 3 Billion to go down to EBITDA to make his profit prediction come true. Well he points out 3 of 8 is like 38% and in the last two quarters the growth has been going to EBITDA like 80%. So he thinks it's a slam dunk. A couple cautions. EBITDA is a very poor measure of profitability in such a business (or in any business). Secondly, all of this math is predicated on the idea that most of their expenses are fixed costs and future growth doesn't come with fixed costs. This is probably based off the fact that they think they can get the same drivers to drive more people or deliver more food (more revenue with marginal more cost). At some point this doesn't hold true. Fixed costs and operating costs creep back in. You can make a decision on whether his prediction will come true. I do think, however, to call the Uber core business similar to AWS is a stretch by any imagination.
@mrnickb4 жыл бұрын
- Amazon ran for years without being profitable - Years later, Amazon created AWS (which is completely different from their retail site) which is now where they get most of their profit from - Uber has also been running for years without being profitable - So, she's basically asking what Uber is going to build in the future that's going to make them profitable, the same way that Amazon did with AWS

Thank you for letting me know about your left-leaning values. Police do great work all around this country every day. Your words say the opposite. Your words speak of generalizations and stereotypes of brutality and racism. I do not believe this is, as a whole, correct. There will always be parts of our society that are deplorable creep into our police, military, fire and other organizations. However, your generalization defines you and your organization. As long as you are the CEO, I will no longer use Uber until you retract your thoughtless statement concerning “police brutality”. I have never been a police officer, but I have been military for over 20 years. Our organization was defined by the actions of the few in Vietnam. Thousands of Soldiers who served honorably came back to being spit in the face and physically abused by people like you. They were called baby killers and only served their country, because their country sent them there. In this day in age, we have it again, but domestically the same is happening to our police community. You sir, and people like you, are inciting this notion and the riots. I reject your beliefs and your company. Good bye, at least while you remain as CEO or when I hear about your retracted, inflammatory statements.
