Vanessa may want to take note from Andre’ and his interview with Mr Lagerfeld. Do your research. Build a relationship. Be respectful. Your air of superiority and aloofness is unwarranted. Andre’ is a legend and treasure.

Yes, Pamella, I completely agree. Vanessa shouldn't have been the one to do this interview. She was so uptight and unprepared for this interview and completely mismatched for Andre. She added zilch to the interview. In fact she poured cold water over many of Andre's delightful escapades. I found myself on edge whenever she inserted her inappropriate comments. He was so gracious which showed her up that much more.

There is a heartbreaking undertone to Leon when he discusses his life, like the fact that he is broke and publicly mentions it with comedic irony...all respect to him.

What he says and what is fact is not necessarily true. Also, I grew up with the children of wealth--the Hilton's, for instance--and poverty is relative.

08CARIB I definitely felt that...
@swicheroo16 жыл бұрын
I saw the doc yesterday afternoon. He definitely is not broke--not with his huge house in New York...and his second house in Durham, North Carolina. And certainly not with a radio show on Sirius and a lifestyle luxury website owned and operated under his control. He may have to economize now that he doesn't have an expense account...but he's far from the poor house.
@desiretakei53556 жыл бұрын
08CARIB His being broke is not that he has no money but rather that he did not make better financial choices. This man has over 30 pieces of genuine Vuitton luggage plus couture custom capes etc. If he were "no money broke" he could sell his possessions. In one of his houses he has 3 bedrooms of clothes 😂😂😂😂😂.

Thank you! That is how insidious racism is. It robs Black people, including André, of equality, of what they are rightfully owed, their dignity and 'true' respect, as human beings. He was at the top of his game and STILL he was under valued, made fun of and experienced racism from his own peers and supposed 'friends' in the fashion industry.

You're absolutely right but you get paid when it's TIME. ALT had no problems working for little or nothing as he was earning his stripes b/c he believed in his craft and was passionate about it and gaining the experience was more important at that time. You can't walk in the door asking for 7 figure salary when you've proven nothing but once you have, by all means, it's time to get PAID!

Why in God's name are they providing a tiny chair for a man well over six feet tall with a large frame body? ! Honestly, it's disrespectful to "assume" a chair that tiny size would be comfortable to sit in for well over an hour for anyone larger then the interviewer. The interviewer is misplaced, mismatched, and not all that bright, however Andre' was gracious, kind and accommodating providing wonderful animated entertaining stories. I ADORE André Leon Talley! Such an accomplished, well-mannered, educated, funny and gracious man. He is my idol. But Vanessa is a horrible interviewer. Stress and obesity and his heart attack and then covid took poor Andre out. If he would have lost the weight he more than likely would have lived he may not have had the heart attack. And had he not had the stress of the house and the court fight and all that. The stress was just too much and it's such a shame. We lost such a treasure and such a wealth of knowledge the likes of which the fashion industry and the world will never know again. I live about an hour from Chapel Hill where Andre is buried and I think I'll take a trip and put down a really chic spray.
