I met Emily at Berklee in 75 or 76.. Never heard her play. Didn't even know she played guitar. She used to come into my dorm room and listen to me and another guy play standards. First time I heard her I absolutely could not believe she would actually sit and listen to me. I am by no means a player like her. I can play, but not like her. Never could figure that one out. But she was a sweetheart.

Ms. Dennerline is known for her mesmerizing footwork. She also added custom electronics to the B3 that lets the pedals sound like a bass. So, the “bottom” may be a combination of the two.

The blues is where jazz is routed. In school we always breeze through it in the beginning. Fewer and fewer go on to continue its study other than on the road. The consort of these players allowed them an opportunity to build a great memory. Unfortunately that memory needed to last a lifetime. Emily in a different life would have become a jazzer's go to guitarist!

I am a pianist and a little bit of a guitarist. and just fell in love with the sound of the combination B3 and Sax. I used to listen Jazz because of the guitars and pianos, but this is real magic. I guess it is an alto-sax, isn't it?
@AndreasDelleske3 жыл бұрын
It's a tenor :) but he plays very high at tmes.
@ArthurKaletzky2 жыл бұрын
@@AndreasDelleske No it's definitely an alto - no upward hump in the neck. Sonny did enter right down at the bottom of the alto range and got a tenor-like tone out of it - something I can't do, although I often play those notes.

@DrCrabfingers2 жыл бұрын
I'm going to say something that may be highly divisive, but it's how I feel. White folk always seem to play black music with too much reliance on technical ability. Their take on it stems from their mind rather than their heart. Black music comes from somewhere very deep...it is saturated in heart and emotion. They pass-over on ultimate technical expression...to in reality give the utmost importance to feeling from the heart and guts. And that is not to say that black music isn't technically proficient, but the torch of emotion, which surely is the reason for playing, is given prime place in the music. Technical expression is given a back seat...emotion is everything, and emotion totally changes the technical expression. I love black music with all my heart...and more and more in my life, black music moves me to tears. All of the music that really moves me to my very soul is written/performed by black artists. I wanted to get that off my chest.

Da sahen Musiker noch wie individuelle Menschen aus, in Physiognomie und Kleidung, ist das schon so lange her?
