I just bought the 2024 version of the Nexa 3 Evo with the t-motor 1604-3800kv, and wow! It's a ton of fun! There is tons of power, and it's my first "real drone" outside of 2 inches or smaller, so it's been fun adjusting to it. Also build quality is amazing and they respond fast to any questions that you may have. Also I used your avionrc discount code that you put in your nexa 3.5 video as the one in this video doesn't work, so thank you for that, sir. Oh, and I would love to maybe see a video on the 2024 Nexa 3 Evo so I can hear your own thoughts about it.

I've discovered AQ from your videos, and I've got no complaints. My Avio flies great. The PID tune is excellent. It provides good authority and feels locked in. I replaced three arms and one motor. I love my quad. There are a few very **minor** issues. 1. VTX is slightly out of a channel when I use smart audio. The onboard button works well. 2. Shipping is slow. AQ uses very slow shipping for spare arms without batteries. 3. Pads on a flight controller are weak and small. There is no buzzer. I ruined the buzzer pad in my 1st attempt. I'm not a very bad solder. 4. I tried to contact support but got no answer Overall the quad is awesome. I enjoy it very much.

Avant kwads R dope! They rip full send all day or cruise pretty friggin good too, for you beginners that want something that'll take a crash well and keep trucking, they are built for a beating... Within reason of course. A couple bucks more than others but worth it. Get one of these and see for yourself. However, if a soldering iron makes you cringe, DJI will probably be more your speed.

My Avantquads Avio 3.5 HD is Far and Away the best sub 250 quad I own.. beautifully built and very well tuned. One of the few quads I don't want to Tinker with, out of fear that I will actually make it worse. Definitely not cheap, but we'll worth the price, especially compared to other bnf's. Also, Eddie from Avantquads was very helpful and quick to reply to inquiries. I forgot to use Nick's code when I bought it, so he threw in some extra arms, straps and propellers yo offset the discount. Would definitely check this out, if I were in the market for a 3".

I wouldn't necessarily go to a larger motor to increase the performance. A prop with more pitch, something like the HQ 3x3x3, would probably be a nice improvement already. I always think that heavier builds do better with a more aggressive prop. And the 1404 motors should easily be able to spin them.
@NickBurnsFPV

This quad is pretty awesome with the aio board and air unit lite, pretty nice electronics setup! It is cool that even with that setup (without camera) that it is sub 250g as well! The 4m flight time is amazing given that higher throttle maneuvers that you were performing throughout the duration of the flight, very speedy and agile too and 8m-12m ish is also great for cruising, pretty efficient! The tune looks great on this quad, it looks like it is flying on rails. This is definitely a competitor with the 3.5in class because of its efficiency for the size. I liked my bind and fly ciro 3 from Avant, but i tried to build there soko 3 frame + 4 spare arms and the arms did not lock together very well i could not find any combination of the 8 arms i have the fit tighter then a 1.5 mm gap. this caused the quad to runaway on 4s. there bind and fly was very nice but the soko frame is not great. i will say i did not reach out to avant i just bought a impulse rc frame and all was good. so im 50/50 on avant the ciro 3 fly great and haven't had any issues with it.

@@NickBurnsFPV as far as I could tell they where all the same. They where not labeled front or back. It possible but i tried almost every combination even opened the spare set to see if I could find a few that would fit better. It may not have been a issue except I had fairly aggressive 1507 4150kv motors on it on 4s it just went crazy. I tried trouble shooting for about 2 weeks thinking maybe I hand bad betaflight settings or a bad FC. Maybe I missed something could have been to hot of motors I rebuilt with a different frame and 3800kv motors and had no problems so its possible it was a mix of both the frame and the motors not sure but it was a head scratcher for sure.

@@NickBurnsFPV I guise that's possible, but there is no option to purchase front or back arms. Only set of 2 or set of 4. One thing I noticed was the parts where already chamfered and the area where the 4 arms lock together was also chamfered. I'm thinking its possible when that was done it change the detentions slightly or something. Other than that the frame was well laid out it would have been easier to service theflight stack compared to my impulseRc frame.

Lower pitch props tend to handle prop wash better. I suspect from the symptoms you describe we need to do some tuning with the 3025 props.The higher pitch props will have greater performance in punch out type of situations, and likely grip better in turns.

I still fly 1507/1408 motors on my 3” apex. I know it’s a different quad, but the power is there for sure. Almost too much power. I have to throw a motor output limit on it. The biggest reason I still use those “old” motors is because of the 5mm shaft and prop nut. I hates t-mount props. HATES them. They are soooo fiddly and take forever to change. Having to find the right screws for the props/motor is another annoyance. Different screws for different props. No thanks. Besides, I’m way too impatient to change props and deal with the screws and what not. I don’t even like taking the time to change 5mm shaft props… but it’s still a lot easier and faster. Lol.

5mm! Dang as soon as I read your commment my mind flashed back to the video…pretty sure I kept saying 3mm shaft 🤦‍♂️. I do hope we see a return or options back to those traditional or “old” 3 inch motors

@@NickBurnsFPV I really like the new motor sizes, but I can’t stand the prop mounting. I’d love it if they just offered prop nut options. However, I guess I understand the reasoning. It does reduce weight, efficiency and maybe even spin-up speed… but it also adds complication/annoyance. Maybe we will see a switch back to prop nuts in the future. Many things we use in daily life win out because of ease-of-use rather than pure performance. 🤷‍♂️

@@palethiusfpv I get that, v1 of the imperial motor was iffy at best. The new stuff seems good. I like his efforts and his attitude. Out of stock is problem for him and everyone. It seems to me to be one of the few 3.5" motors out there. I also fly at 4500' so need a touch more kv than most. Happy flying!

How is this versus the emax babyhawk 2 HD?
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 2 жыл бұрын
babyhawk 2 is 3.5inch prop, I don't put it in the 3inch prop category. The BH2 has more power but also less smooth. With the additional power it has a tendency to feel "jumpy" vs this nexa 3.

264 grams, that's a lot of weight for 3 inch props. I think a 650mah would be a better pairing, a regular old 14.8v 650mah from RDQ 80 grams. They are amazing if you haven't tried them great punch , very little sag, not like the new lightweight style, 650-1100 mah or so, HV lipos that sag like crazy.

How dare they make anything but a cinewhoop in 3" ^^ . . looks like it has 3,5mm arms which is even more than the 1mm/1" that I aim for. Personally I've burned a full set of motors and two AIOs just clipping stuff, so without the prop guards the 4in1 is the way to go to me. I'm sure it's just me :P
