I mean just look a the NCsoft v. BlueHole trial 12 years ago. It's the same deal only worse. And yet obviously as we know Bluehole won and went on to be a multi billion dollar corporation now renamed to Krafton. Who also, funny enough, is financially invested and backing Ironmace. Krafton also has the rights to dark and darker and are making the mobile version. So honestly not worried about this. Also side note, we only torrented pt5. Playtest 4 was the last on steam where DnD peaked.

Caves of qud is a really good roguelike that has less copies sold than Barony, tons of people talk about it and play it. Would you say nobody plays it? Cause I'm relatively sure DaD has sold half if not less copies than Barony.

So you know how we have set floors rn with permanent layouts and you leave them on a timer. What if it was like this: start at the tavern, with all the merchants and everything like normal but at a ingame tavern with a room you go to and it’s got like armor stands you can buy and a chest with the normal stash UI and you can buy tabs there. When you are in the hall there is a randomly generated quest board. You can go and select one to complete ranging from f-ss. F being like kill 3 slimes and ss being like kill the frost wyvern in one life but you can have one quest of each type at a time or multiple lower ranking ones at the same time. There isn’t an adventurer ranking to earn other than ap, each quest gives ap. Or have ap be arena based. Tbh either one works for me. you select your quest, then go outside to one of the directions posts, hopefully there will be a bunch of different dungeons in the full game. Say you go to the ruined castle. It’s ruins, then in each 3 levels of crypts is a postmaster by the entrance and a blue teleporter, maybe 20ft away a shack for each of the following merchants: goblin merchant (who recovers any gear you discarded for better gear from the previous floor), woodsman, alchemist, surgeon, luck potion lady. You have up to 5 minutes in this space before “last down for the hour” or sum bs and you are forced into the next set of 3 floors until you go down on lvl 9. Spend your 5 minutes prepping because the next floor is the lich, gk or whatever. It can change on the map type that you first entered. Hopefully in the future it will tell you the boss of each dungeon and you can enter whichever you choose. After you conquer the advertised boss floor 1-10. The dungeon gets funky. Random floor types, random type mobs mixed in on the “wrong floor” this is when the merchants are fewer and farer between but when you do come across one it has everything out present day main menu has excluding the stash and the ability to claim money from items sold on the trade hall. Of course you have postmaster and the blue right at the start each merchant. Say a merchant level is every 5 levels but you get 30 seconds with postmaster every level after level 10. I see problems with map size and player count. I guarantee people are still going to go in with pure murder on their mind so you should get rewarded for killing them. A karma system should only be implemented for when you kill a player. Killing a player with good karma you don’t get anything but their gear. Kill a player with bad karma that isn’t on your team, it must be a “enemy” in raid. You get a .75 scale of 1 gold per bad karma point. Say some one has -1000 karma, you get a 750g reward for killing him, plus any gear you took from him. Gobby merchant still works as designed previously for both parties.

Quite a good response to Kira's video on the topic, though I'd have to express interest in your take on what Kira expressed was the core of the legal battle: not whether the games were similar enough due to elements present initially or later in DaD's development, but whether the design phase of DaD was literally stolen from Nexon, allowing Iron Mace to begin the production phase immediately without any design phase. Whether or not this is true shines a different explanation on the importance of details like the door having the same scale and the 10,000 identical assets because it speaks to the intent of such repetition. If DaD is *designed* so similarly because Iron Mace never engaged in a design phase at all, and used the design they'd already iterated on while working for Nexon, then that's what the civil suit is interested in establishing, because it could be demonstrably a case of IP theft, the IP in question being not tthe idea of the game as a whole, but the actual work that went into turning it from an idea into a document that's ready to enter production. The distinction that needs to be established would be whether Iron Mace made a game that came from the same inspiration and industry familiarity as P3, which is not an infringement, or if the then-Nexon employees were already working on DaD before they left Nexon, while being paid to make P3 (implying that at some point they were not identical projects but the same project.)

Love your videos Onepeg. I think you may of been mistaken about what Kira said, and misunderstood. From my perspective, the clip you used in your video wasn't him saying "you stole the game" he only said "thats because you worked on the game at Nexon" when talking about the line in the article "the game was created through personally embodied knowledge and prior games". That is exactly what happened, and that statement came from an Ironmace representative. Did he not work on the game at Ironmace? Did the general Idea for the game not come from the project they worked on, quit because they didn't like it getting shelved, and start their own company? This is not saying they stole anything, I do not believe they did. I'm just curious if i'm misunderstanding whats being said.

I want people to understand that nothing will make me side with Nexon in this case, because I wholeheartedly believe that unless the company literally TAUGHT their employees how to code/design this game then "trade secrets" should not apply. The concept of trade secrets was for situations like when a master of a craft taught an apprentice their technique on how to make their product, but didn't want the apprentice to take those "secrets" and give it to a competitor. Yet over time corporations, with their billions or dollars, have bribed legislators aka "lobbied" so that "trade secrets" meant that companies owned everything created by their employees at the time of employment and that's just not fair and will ALWAYS be injustice to me. Mini Rant: Like seriously, think about how "trade secrets" is being used in this case. These developers MADE P3, the idea/concept, mechanics, choice of assets all came from these INDIVIDUALS not the company. Yet because they no longer work for Nexon they're now expected to what? Stop using their skills, skills that existed BEFORE they worked for Nexon, otherwise it's infringement? That is just ridiculous to me. Just 1 question : if it was the other way around , lets say ironmace a small dev studio wants to make a game and copyright some of the stuff and gets some help from nexon. Then suddenly a lead dev (not the owner) says f it this takes to long then takes 10 devs or so with him go to Nexon and makes that game. Would you then also defend Nexon this way or would we all say Nexon stole the idea from that small indy company and lets pick up the pitchforks against Nexon. This case could bring huge implications for the future even for small devs studios , big companies could steal legally games from other games before those games come out and with that destroying even the chance of that small dev studio making some money from their ideas.

It already happens. You need money to take these to court. Bug companies take small companies to court with no case just to bankrupt the smaller company. Just like you don't have the money to sue twitter, if twitter sued you you'd have to comply immediately or go into massive debt/ file for bankruptcy

That already happens bro. Moral gray area is a thing and has been forever. Nexon has directly ripped off the ideas for both CS and Mario Kart and for the most part have got away with clean hands. Art work is stolen from independent artists almost daily as part of “visualization reference tools” for staff artists in games. Angry tweets aren’t always enough and it takes money to sue people, which indie studios don’t commonly have enough of. “Legal stealing” as you put it isn’t stealing. That’s why there is court… which costs money… that’s why you don’t hear about it as much. When the rich try to write the laws, this is where issues begin.

Both games also already made lots of money so not even a big lost for the original and you said it yourself that in case of csgo they even did a deal with valve bc of a potential lawsuit. Here it is the case that devs takes a copyrighted idea and maybe even source code and make the game before the original company can makes the game so that company cant even make money from their own project. But again if it was the other way around would we also all defend Nexon this way ?

I've said right along it is a gray area. In the music industry this happens constantly. The band Coldplay has been forced to pay royalties on 3 of their largest hits because the melody and arrangements were directly ripped note for note from indie bands that you've never heard of. so yes, if it were the other way around, I'd say the same thing.
