A homemade bush hog would be a good project or maybe even do a sickle bar that would work from the back of it that would work with a three point hitch and also work off the PTO just to see if you could build something like that. It’s worth the challenge and I look forward to whatever you decide.

Can't wait for the 3pt! I'd love to see you fabricate you're own power steering brackets, connect a hydraulic cylinder to the brackets and make your own hydraulic system, unless the 128 has one stock. Once you have working hydraulics and power steering, you could weld up a front end loader. That would be perfect to go along with the dozer and grader! Thanks for sharing, Frank! Take care, Gan

After watching the grader videos maybe you should consider making a large leaf blower to blow sticks and leaves from your road? It may make road maintenance much easier as well as take care of those pesky leaves in the yard during the fall. You could even make it a vacuum with a pull behind leaf wagon.

I've always wanted to have a verticutter for my lawn. Something small, can be run by a small tractor and that the verticutting blades could be switched out for a rototiller or an aerator. There are companies that make them for golf courses, big commercial units, but nothing that's small enough that a homeowner could use on a large lawn.

because of the reach that 3-pt arms would have to have to clear the reverser and then whatever length the PTO shaft would have to be, I too recommend a mounted item such as close coupled generator or splitter. Or, just run a PTO shaft out to whatever item you have fixed in a location other than attached to tractor. Don't know if an electric actuator lift would change much in the design. The electric actuator lift on my GT2544 is plenty strong. Will lift my hydraulic rototiller with no problem.

you could put a chipper sherder on the back of it with the 540 or I would try to power a pto driven generator on the back of the tractor. that would be pretty cool to have both attachments. Also true 3 point would be cool as well just have to lay it all out and figure out how you are going to position everything for the 3 point to work properly. I've seen the fork lift build and that turned out awesome, So if you can design and build the fork lift on your own you can build the 3 point system and designee it on your own id say go against the odds and build it and make it your own. Thank you for the videos. Your cnc plasma cutter and laying stuff out remindes me of motor sport fabrication and doing all the tech stuff like in the machine shop that I went to school for

Make the PTO drive another hydraulic pump system that you can take on and off the three point hitch and build a bushhog to go with it but the reason for the separate hydraulic system would be to run the bushhog mounted on a side boom arm. So in other words build a side boom bushhog mower that runs off its own hydraulic system so it won't drag down the motor of the tractor when it gets in something thick it will drag down on the separate hydraulic system. A side boom bushhog mower with at least a boom and stick like an excavator that also pivots on a pin where it mounts to the tractor so it can swing forward and backwards just like one of the side boom mowers you see on the highways mowing the tree limbs and brush back from the road. Make the side boom mower detached from the side of the tractor so you can use the tractor for other things. Make the part that hooks to the 3 point hitch the hydraulic reservoir, pump, valves, and where all the hydraulic lines can stay. (that have quick connects on the mower side) So you'll have two units that are easy to detach because the hydraulic hoses are with the 3 point setup they'll be out of the way when removing the side boom mower assembly. With it you'll be able to keep tree limbs and undergrowth from intruding on your driveway, away from around the edges of the yard where it meets the woods, and mow any banks or ditches you may have more easily. Everything that's hard to mow and/or not able to mow with a lawnmower and cut limbs that you would normally have to physically cut with a saw or loppers. If you cut them off in an area that's not yard you can just bushhog over them once they fall on the ground. I ran a side boom mower doing roadside mowing and cutting trees and brush back for about 9 months. They will cut the limbs off intact because the front of the deck has a hydraulic door that opens so you can expose the blade and cut the limbs off whole then when they're on the ground you close the door and mow over them and it chops them up real good. If you don't want to chop them up and make a mess you can just come back and pick them up and take them somewhere to get rid of them. This could be a useful tool to help cut back on the physical labor involved with property maintenance. After though, you could design the bushhog part to come off the boom and have it where you could hook it to the 3 point hitch so you could use it either way. You'd have to build the mower with a PTO drive permanently on it and make it so you can mount a hydraulic drive motor to it for when it's in the side boom configuration. A female end in the hydraulic motor like the PTO reverser has that slides on the permanent mounted PTO drive on the mower by having the base of the hydraulic motor slide into two angle irons welded to the mower deck with bolt holes threaded through the angle iron into the hydraulic motors base to hold it on. I think my ideas have gotten out of hand. Maybe just building a separate bushhog to pull behind the tractor that mounts to the 3 point hitch might be easier than going through all this nonsense I'm dreaming up.

If you're going to custom build something, there's no need for that gearbox. Just gear it to run on the factory PTO and save the power loss of the gearbox. Such a small engine will need all the power savings it can get. Those PTO adapters were built to use on a farm so you could run stationary things without tying up a full size tractor. A small hammer mill, a small grain augers, or a hay elevator were about all they could handle. They made one for that vintage John Deere garden tractors as well but they attached to the front. I like your machines, best regards from Indiana.

@stevenbeach748
@stevenbeach748 Жыл бұрын
@@farmerbill6855 keeping the engine rpm high maintains horsepower while running the power through a reduction gearbox increases torque. Torque is what does the work. Horsepower is just a number. The only disadvantages to a gearbox are weight ( on a tractor doesn't matter, might actually help) and a little friction in the gears so you'll lose a few percent power, again, not a big deal.
@farmerbill6855
@farmerbill6855 Жыл бұрын
When the hp is small, like 12, it's a way big deal. And, to gear something down just to gear it back up again is foolishly adding friction and maintenance. Like I said, if he custom builds something to run on that tractor, he might as well put that gearbox aside and design it to run on the factory PTO.
@stevenbeach748
@stevenbeach748 Жыл бұрын
@@farmerbill6855 it depends on what he's building. You wouldn't gear up a slow turning implement like an auger or a trencher. I agree that a high speed pto would be better for a high-speed application like a wood-chipper. Although that's not what large tractors do.

Since your limited on horsepower I don't think a bush hog is going to very practical, unless you drop the blade diameter way down. We see you working on your driveway from time to time. Before my wife and I sold our farm I use to maintain a gravel driveway, similar to what you have but longer. I always wished that I had a customize blower attachment that was strong enough to get leaves, sticks and pine needles (which are the worse) out of the ditches before grading. Maybe you can design a blower that can clean top as well as ditches. Actually, I am pretty sure you design and build it .. hopefully this something you need and it makes sense ... 🙂
