@@renetenorio9957 There was no way he could have known during the off-Broadway run. It wasn't even spoiled after it became a big hit. I love how in the beginning no one knows that Gabe actually died when he was like 2 and he's only in her mind (and later Dan's mind). In the very beginning they seem like an average family. A son who's in jazz band, key club, and football, a nerdy daughter who plays piano, and typical parents.

“Costco” is the cut number I loved the most. I understand why they scrapped it but hell if I didn’t enjoy it. I’m sure Alice Ripley was relieved when it was cut, though. Everything about portraying a manic episode in a musical number looks so demanding, from the vocals to the physicality required.

What I love about this version rather than the original is for the song "Catch me I'm falling" they dropped 2 verses when they went on Broadway, it was right when Natalie was suppose to go on piano solo, she and Dan and Gabe were all singing " catch me I'm falling X2 losing myself in the air, catch me I'm falling, don't leave me crawling, catch me and show that you care", and even though the original is great t capturing the pain, I like the extra 2 verses, shows even more emotion!

I love the "How do you know how much memory you've lost, if you've lost it?" from Gabe, and the audience seems to love it too. It reminds you that while he's a hauntingly sad, creepy hallucination that's ruining the family, he's still a sassy teenager. The most tragic thing about this show is that Gabe never got to grow up and actually be this sassy teenager that's coming home late and talking back to his parents.

Such a good show. I love how thought provoking it is. Dan definitely dealt with things the wrong way, forgetting their son was never the answer, but he's also a troubled man finding his own way of coping. In the end [spoiler] I think Diane was better off leaving, Natalie is grown now and she needs to find a way of recovery that works for what she needs and not what her family needs. But there's so much to debate and discuss and each character is understandably complicated
@jamesoniris26473 жыл бұрын
While I like Costco, I personally enjoy Diana’s breakdown in the kitchen with the sandwiches. Although Costco truly shows the visual experience of overstimulation and a panic attack, the sandwich breakdown shows the families reaction to her breakdown a lot better. While in Costco, she falls to the floor and Dan (I think) comes to help her, in the kitchen she puts sandwiches around the kitchen and the family just stands there. Dan walks over to her and brings her back up before taking her to the doctor.

9:55 costco (1:05:36 feeling electric ) DIANA In the olden days of shopping a mother thought of stopping in the village at the tiny general store. But today the modern mommy who needs turnips or salami takes the SUV to somewhere where there's more. She rolls that giant cart right through that giant, giant door. Costco, oh oh oh, costco. Where the lonely and lost go to buy what they lack. Where baked beans and hammers come twelve to a pack. There mayonaise and vats and tampons and hats! There's mac and cheese in packs of threes and teas imported from Belize and extra excitement in store. For women like me who need more, and more, and more! And a cherry pie so giant I don't know where to begin I might slice myself a slice or I might dive the hell right in! Here's a gallon tub of cottage cheese, the kind with giant curds and the chocolate coated chocolate is just too divine for words. Though the woman with the samples caught me coming back for thirds! [spoken] Well, fuck 'er! Who is she to judge me? Stupid sample lady. [sung] Costco, buh dup buh dup, Costco! Where the tired tempest-tossed go to save their insides. With champagne and sweatpants and radio tires With children to feed I know what I need. (backup: Cheddar cheese!) And one super block of cheddar jack cheese They make super doorstops, I'll take three please. (backup: Oooh) Doritos and Fritos and Cheetos and such... The choice is the choosing-- [spoken] it's a little bit much... [sung] It's salmon and soy beans and salt and sorbet. A wurlitzer organ I can't even play! A washer, a dryer, a plasma tv! And thirteen new britas, the fourteenth is free! And three new computers, we need them no doubt! And printers and WHAT? you say that you're out? So have them sent here from some other store and send them to me in tears on the floor! I'll just be lying here waiting for more, and more, and more, and more, and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and moooore! [spoken] Gimme that. [sung] Aaaaaaand...
