Remember, there's no guarantee that there is a Nintendo Direct next week, and if there is, there's no guarantee that the Switch successor will be revealed. It might be revealed in its own separate presentation for example, so don't all get your hopes up for nothing and then complain that "Nintendo lied" when Nintendo never actually said anything.

⁠​⁠​⁠@@BowserEditz (everything below is just my opinion :) 1) it’s not that people will necessarily not buy games until Switch 2 releases, it’s just that it’s naturally going to undermine every major game coming out this fall. Besides the diehard fan base, who is going to care about Mario and Luigi coming out if there’s a shiny new 3D Mario game revealed before then? Besides (as long as we can both agree Switch 2 isn’t coming out this year), having a reveal this early only for it to come out so much later next year would slowly lose hype for the successor overtime; that kills off the eventual sales of Switch 2 for the long run *and* the short term sales for the fall lineup. 2) Investors getting impatient sounds reasonable on paper, but if they are in it for the money would they not understand Nintendo’s desire to wait? Nintendo wants more money from their fall releases, and the investors naturally want to gain the maximum amount of money from the Switch 2. If production/the need for investors time is now, then it’s reasonable that Nintendo would keep the public announcement on the down-low while they gain money from the fall lineup to keep up with the investors, and then make their worth when Switch 2 is released. 3) Switch sales are naturally going to decline since it is a 7-year old console fighting to keep up with much more powerful competition, but holiday sales are always an option. You know how much Nintendo likes to milk things as long as they can. Look at Mario Kart 8 or even the switch itself- I feel like getting one last sale push to get it over the best selling console in the world isn’t outside the realm of possibility. Having the last major game launching in November (or technically January if you’re counting DK) only supports that further. Besides, the multi-billion dollar company is not in desperate need of a new money maker. The switch sales might be declining but they were already so ridiculously good that it’s not going to stop supporting them or disrupt their plans so much that it would encourage them to move reveal plans forward 4) It’s not like a ton of new AAA games need to be revealed to keep interest. They haven’t told us barely anything about the games coming out this fall, and indie developers are always making games to put on the console. Also just my own reasoning here, but besides for deceiving us why would they give out the time frame of until March 31st for the Switch 2 to be officially mentioned if they were just going to do it now? That doesn’t make a ton of sense in my eyes TLDR- this is just my thought process and Nintendo’s may be very different, but on the logical side of things I feel like it just doesn’t make sense to push for the Switch 2 to be formally revealed next week and *especially* to have a general direct with the new games in September

My predictions for the direct: - Mischief Makers remake, now in 3D - An action-oriented crossover game featuring lots of original Jetix characters [definitely not Kingdom Hearts IV] - An action-oriented adventure game that serves as an alternative to the Nightshroud arc [combat style is similar to the Kingdom Hearts games, but with monster cards] - An action-oriented platformer featuring Geno (real name ♡♪!?) as the protagonist [same treatment as Snufkin, but with combat] - New version of Tomodachi Life, with a wild Mii maker (like in Miitopia) - A new Rhythm Heaven installment - Duelverse, the first fighting game full of various duelists (from the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe) - Enhanced ports of Fortune Street and Mario Sports Mix, now with the addition of Geno, Mallow and a few others (who didn't make it in the original)

I do believe that Nintendo is done with the Switch 1 library and that most of the games they have in the works now are for Switch 2. So they probably can’t have a full 40min direct until they announce switch 2. In my opinion they’ll either have a direct mini or partner showcase or they’ll have a switch 2 presentation and a big direct later. I think its more likely that we’ll have a small direct and a Switch 2 presentation later in the fall.

I am not 100% sure about this but I think there will be a partner showcase next week and then in September there will be a Switch 2 reveal and then a direct in November on the Switch 2 because remember, Mario and Luigi: Brothership is releasing early in November and that is the last Switch game for the year so I am guessing there will be a direct focused on Switch 2 showcasing games that were teased in the trailer.

I’m personally hoping for mini direct. The official Nintendo of America twitter account did confirm that there are more characters in Super Mario Party Jamboree just as we thought so we need those characters revealed. We don’t anything about the story of Mario and Luigi Brothership so we need more info on that as well as who’s developing it because Alpha Dream went bankrupt. In May new trademarks were filed for Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and Stretchmo so probably need to reveal those. If the leak about a new Kirby game is true then they need to reveal it because the leak said it will be on Switch and was not sure if it was a joint release. I been real skeptical about this leak because despite the promotional are looking legit, if the Grinch Leak has taught us anything it’s that even the most legit looking leaks can be fake. Plus fake promotional art is now a lot easier to make with AI. They could show all this off and still have more in a mini direct.

Fair point. My vision of this teaser goes like this. It follows a similar format to the OG Switch teaser. It is basically a highlight reel showing people playing certain games like Metroid Prime 4, a 3D Mario and Mario Kart but only brief glimpse's of each. It can also show off a powerful 3rd party game to get a glimpse of the power (hopefully Elden Ring). It shows what the console looks like and how it plays. It might say 2025 at the end but no month given. This way people know what to expect and it lets people know this is the Switch’s last holiday on the market. It will also shut all the KZbinrs up

1:19 Literally nothing that we know of, but Switch 1 is still gonna be having games through next year, maybe even 2026. I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but there’s genuinely zero chance they just drop the last games for the current Switch and stop supporting it. Nintendo are smart and know that users don’t just all have 300-400 dollars lying around for a new console. These transition periods for consoles are gradual, not immediate and drastic. I dunno if we’ll see anything next week, but I’m not holding my breath. PhBrazil said we’d get a Direct in April that didn’t happen, but is the first person to report the Switch 2 delay. I can’t in full confidence believe him, but I can’t entirely write him off either.

I could see switch 2 keep the online subscription service of the switch but makes the expansion pack features like n64 and gba games be part of the normal switch 2 online subscription like the Nes and snes games are now. But I could see a ds, 3ds, wii and gcn online pack be a switch 2 expansion pack at some point in the systems life. Unfortunately I don't see the switch 2 being backwards compatible because the switch 2 might have games play at 4k instead of the 1080P switch games play at.
