If you already have a business page, signing up here ultimately dumps you in the the "lite" site. The tiny size of ads on the lite site is a deal killer for me. I already have ads that fit perfectly fine elsewhere and I don't want to have to start resizing things just to squish them in on this site. It's really weird, because I am able to post an ad/picture just fine on a nextdoor post without having to resize. But if I want to make it an ad, it wants to shrink it or crop it. Bottom line is that this dissuades me from paying to use this site. I'll just post for free and see what comes of it. I'll spend money elsewhere where the marketing/ad platforms are easier to use and user friendly. The crappy ad setup and non-existent customer service of nextdoor is exactly the OPPOSITE of what being in business should be about. It's a red flag reason to NOT pay to advertise on their site. @@DigitalSargeant

The info was great, but it would have been much more helpful if you had explained in the video that you have to apply for the commerce ad site. I am sure I am not the only person that tried to find it to no avail. Then discovered the link in the comments for it.

Great info Mrs Sargeant. I just ran the “lite” version of their add and for two months and was not happy with results at all. So I am curious how do I get to this “other” not so light version of creating a campaign? I clicked my self to death around NextDoor platform within my account and could not find that option. totally agree. I strongly NOT recommand ND coz they wouldn't give you any useful information. I kept emailing them for almost a month and all the answers are unclear. I filled the form that Ms.Sargeant shared and I tried two different emails, guess what? For the same question, the answer is different, one replied $1000/mon you can have AD campaign, the other is $50/day, which is $1500/mon. They don't have a uniform standard at all.

@@awesomechinese5688 I also received reply. Ad-Center is (drum roll please) per invite only and for those who are willing to spend $1000 > $25000. A true LOL! Its a classic “big tech” ruthless algorithm driven greed. If I had $1000 or more to throw through the window I would hire educated person in flesh and blood to manage my advertising and not NexDoor, Thumbtack or any of those bogus vampires!

Hi Jennifer! Great info! I created an Ad 5 business days ago and it still is not approved; there's no info in Ad Manager. Thought it maybe didn't go through, but when I try to create another ad, my card is stored so I know it is in process. In your experience, how long does an ad approval take? Ah yes, you can only post 2x a month on ND for businesses. What I've noticed though is that the more reviews you get and are active on ND - they seem to open that up. I have a couple of biz that have unlimited posting. Also take a look at local groups in your area and see if there is anything you can do there for posting / getting more awareness.

I’m thinking since they billed me $310 upfront that they would send traffic and leads almost right away like Facebook does when I boost a post but I see this maybe a little different. Hi Jennifer, I love this video and have been using the nextdoor "boost version" for my small pressure washing business for a couple years but your version on the NAC seems way better. I just can't seem to figure out how to get started. I've tried a couple times to find it and once I got to a sign up page but they wouldn't accept neither my yahoo or Gmail email account. Any ideas? I just started working for a cloud-based realty company where there isn't a physical storefront, especially in the area of town that I would like to put some early emphasis on. Because the simple five digit zip code is rather broad, does NextDoor allow you to hone in on the expanded nine digit zip codes? I'm asking in the context that I work in a home office that will not be set up with receiving clients and potential clients.

You can claim the business as a service base business like mine (nextdoor.com/pages/digital-sargeant-clermont-fl/) but for advertising it would be the traditional 5 digit zip codes. You can target cities and DMA's in the NAC

I appreciate your video and overview about ND ad products. As per other commenters, it seems you've been blessed with the campaign platform and many have to request it or they're stuck with the "small business platform." And that platform is so limited, if not bad. Please note in your video example -- especially as it pertains to your graphic which had a lot of text -- ND will throttle or reject your ad for it not being less than 30% (though I find that regional and national ads on ND have been skirting that -- big time. Maybe unlocking the campaign platform enables more flexibility regarding text in graphics too).

Well so I started a page for my Home Improvement business, however the geniuses at nextdoor kept advertising it as a Dental business for some reason. I've asked over and over to get that fixed. nexdoor just kept sending e-mails that they fixed the problem...while at the same time sending me e-mails to promote my "Dental business" Anyways, 2 years went by and they never NEVER fixed the problem. To be Honest I have been contacted by some people about jobs for the Home improvement business but most of the time it was people wanting to get work done for about $8.00 an hour or less. Other than that it's a great app if you want to hear people rant about dog poop, or suspicious cars parked across the street, there are many, many, MANY rants about various grievances people have with the world. And there is also people begging for money so there is that. I think over the 2 years I've been on this app I got maybe 4 small jobs off there, maybe 5, and one of those jobs the lady never paid me to this day.
