Thanks for another fine lesson. You reinforce what I tell new riders learning to climb midwestern hills, "it's easier to scrub speed w/ the brakes than try to add more power once in the climb".

Thanks Dan! I took 12 years off from riding and your videos helped me dust off cobwebs in no time. I find myself riding better and having more fun than I used to “in my prime”. Practicing and focusing on technique set such a solid foundation. I find myself coaching everyone I ride with now haha.

I really appreciate these tutorials. You're doing a great job of breaking things down, even things that we automatically do but don't realize. Understanding the why and reinforcing good habits is essential!

Great video 👏👏 And nice work not digging the sled down when you lost momentum! You knew you were running out of momentum and purposely rolled the sled downhill to make it easier to get going again. Saves a lot of energy! I can think of two people who need to watch that part 😂

Ive always been told "when in doubt throttle out" but I have learned more now that with sleds getting more powerful just blind throttling can become a worse situation. Now I prefer to find the sweet spot on the throttle for the snow condition to maintain momentum to get to a flat spot to possibly stop and regroup and scan for a new line if needed.

very well said ... me and my brother were in the garage few weeks ago and we finnaly got avalanche beacons we did a drll and tried to find each others after we hid them... long story short we learned get to the ground once you find the closest location to make sure its the correct area to dig and he said @Dan Adams would be proud lol

Usually when I gotta sidehill im movin at a pretty good clip unless its tight tree riding then im wrong foot forward for a little bit. But with my 22 pro 850 I find myself riding neutral most of the time because of how effortless it is to kick it over on edge and keep it there vs how much work it was on my 08 turbo nytro. I even "think" about going on edge and the polaris for whatever reason just does it, absolutely unreal how the sled reacts with minimal input from me.
@NextLevelRidingClinics
@NextLevelRidingClinics Жыл бұрын
Yep certainly and there are a ton of riding situations where neutral is a great position to be in. I really like trying to stay in that position especially when I’m combining sidehilling with climbing where I’m still wanting as much “flat track” in the snow so I can maintain momentum. Glad it’s feeling so effortless for ya!! Keep crushing it 👊

I'd also like to see a video about using the brake, as well as the throttle at the same time! Especially with a turbo sled, in order to build up power before moving. It would be sweet to learn from a pro!

He has a video about using the brake. Also you don't use them at the same time, but you always have your finger on the brake ready to go.

So Dan is not a fan of "When in doubt, throttle out". How about "Hesitation equals devastation"? 😄
@NextLevelRidingClinics
@NextLevelRidingClinics Жыл бұрын
I like that one! Such a fine line between hesitation and just grabbing a handful though. Here’s one for ya. “Slow your roll…grab the brake & stay in control” I get it that hesitation can lead to bad situations too so we’ll said. 👍 Thanks for watching 🙌🙌
@mikegatherall8420
@mikegatherall8420 Жыл бұрын
Yeah but see far too many who grab throttle but haven’t got control over it. Definitely a fine line refined with practice
