You should run your fuzz through the acoustic channel on the Katana. Just dime the gain and master, and use the volume knob to control the overall output of the amp. It seriously sounds way closer to a tube amp than running the fuzz through the clean channel. It also gives you a better clean tone, IMHO.
@BlueBarrier7823 жыл бұрын
Do you mean dime the actual master of the amp labelled master, or do you mean the volume knob next to the gain? Usually people dime the channel volume to get more of a tube like feel.

Glad to see you using this superfuzz style fuzz with the Nextone because I plan on using my Wattson Electonics FY-6 with my Artist when it arrives.

Running them at the same time sounds massive.

I think a big muff pie might be a better fuzz to run them through the paces. That pedal is kind of horrible and a poor choice to find out about the amps.

Man...after a year seeing demos and reviews, y have to conclude that this and the pedal zone are the best channels!! No long videos, not to much talking, straigth to the point,.....and some musikal playing, I mean...I prefer listenin to a simple riff than the overtechnikal, no-sense no context soloing. I realise that the gas of buying gear comes when I hear musical ideas that I like, not whe I hear the perfect tone

The El34 pulled ahead of the katana IMO. I own the 100w katana. Another great video, thanks man.

Thanks for that test! I remember wishing more pedal demos would come out back when the Blues Cube was being hyped up. I wonder how similar the Nextone is to the Roland Blues Cube reissues internally. Might be worth getting one as a backup to my BC Artist if the editor is flexible and nuanced enough.

I think they are kind of "Blues Cube 2.0"

I have the Nextone Stage on order and the KTN 50 here now. Everyone needs to remember that the Artist is 3 times the price of the Katana 50. I would hope it sounds both different and hopefully a bit better! I do like the choices on the Nextone, so I hope it works out for me. Right now I think the Katana is a much better amp. Guess we'll have to see. Thanks for the comparison.

On the recording the Katana sounds warrmer, but the Nextone sounds like it'll sit better in a mix. The takeaway? run them both and NEVER turn then down 😉

Another great video. I have been a bit unhappy with the on board fuzzes in the ktn 50 and regretting selling my pedals when I sold my laney cub 10. This video has shown that I can and should get back into pedals with the Katana. How do you rate the on board dirt pedals compared to real pedals into the katana? Love to hear your thoughts.
@JK.Fraser5 жыл бұрын
There isn't really much comparison really. They work on the Katana and sound good, but they aren't as controllable. I always feel like I need a bit more adjustment on the onboard pedals. Also you miss out on the best sound of the Katana, clean channel with the gain at 1 o clock with a few drives going into the front.
@mattgilbert73473 жыл бұрын
Oh dude the Cub10 is awesome! That+ a Katana or Nextone would be a killer dual amp wet/dry rig

What about a comparison with the Princeton? Can the nextone get the Princeton sound and feel?
@60CycleHumcast5 жыл бұрын
ill get to it. I dont think its going to sound like the character of the princeton, but im interested to see if it has a similar in room 'tube amp' feel, the difference in edge of breakup could be interesting too.

Andertons did a comparison with several amps including a Princeton.

Love the Boss Katana...but maybe something is lost in the mix...as the there really isn't much tone shaping with the Nextone Tube settings...... Y-Tube problem?

That is either the worst fuzz pedal or these amps suck with pedals.

From other youtubers the Katana sounds great with pedals, Dave is an example of this; he uses the Katana in the accoustic option and you can find the same on the internet. I can't talk for the Nextone tho, don't know much about it.

Me thinks you were WAY WAY overdriving that fuzz pedal. Sounded absolutely horrendous. Gah................... Try it again with the guitar vol pedal turned down or the drive level on the pedal turned down.

The only difference I hear is that it sounds like the presence control is all the way down on the Katana and all the way up on the Nextone, otherwise they sound pretty identical.
@markstanford5945 жыл бұрын
The Katana has no presence control. At least for the ktn 50.

All the tube emulations just got darker from 6v6 onward. I thought a few emulations sounded ok but they are just preset EQ. Katana sounds better and it's easier to work with.
