45th-65th sounds about right for this year. But with a defensive staff like the one Kelly has assembled, I expect that number to be a lot better by 2025/26. Making the 12-team CFP is already on the table, but winning the whole thing will not be possible until the defense is up to LSU standards

Using last year's stats... if LSU allows just 3.5 fewer ppg, (1 less broken play for a TD every two games), they go from #81 to #55 in scoring defense. If they allow 50 less yards per game, they go from #108 to #55 in total defense. Given the changes made in the off-season, those seem like easily achievable goals.

LSU doesn't need to have a great defense, just a decent one to go with that explosive offense, which = contender. The big guys on the D-line will be a big plus this year.

You're right.He'll probably win 2 or 3 before his 10 year contract is up. One thing is for damn sure.....your days of playing for championships are long gone.You'll realize that soon enough.

He may not as there's only 3 active coaches who have won one...2 of which are still relevant or rather competing at the highest level in Dabo and Kirby Smart, Mack Brown being the 3rd. And outside of that it's been Saban, Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh, Jimbo Fisher, and Ed O to ever win one or more over the past 20 years almost (I know going that far I'm leaving out guys like Pete Carroll and other names) and with the league expansion and NIL and transfer portal making it even more difficult to win one then the odds are probably in favor of Kelly never winning one. But as long as he gets the program to where it's legitimately competing for a championship (sec and/or national) year after year then as a fan that grew up in and lives in Baton Rouge I'll be more than happy
