The atmosphere is so much better than it was at the World Cup in Qatar. I feel the euros are still more about the game instead of money. Also the passionate fans being able to travel from all over Europe to a country that has a big football culture itself is a massive contribution. Love it!

That orange bus is really something. They have used it for 20 years now; that thing goes everywhere. They even shipped it to Brazil and South Africa for the world championship football. There are somewhere around 30 volunteers to keep that thing driving. It actually drives at the front of the parade when the dutch fans go from the city to the stadium for the match. It even has a bar onboard. It is awesome. The statues the dutch fans were carying during the parade were those of the players of the dutch team that won the european championship in 1988.

Dutchy here. Orange is our national color because of the last name of our royal family: Van Oranje, or translated to English: Of Orange. We're one of the last remaining monarchies. Back in the day (centuries ago) our flag used to be orange, white and blue. But due to bad visibility of the color orange for ships at sea, they changed it to red. Since then it has been tradition on some occasions to fly the red white and blue Dutch flag accompanied by an orange banner to honor the royal family. It's also been adapted in our national team's sports kits and we made carrots orange just for the fun of it 😉

Nah, Germany and the Scots don't share any history of "loving" each other during tournaments. Scots, like the Dutch, are everybodies friends. They make you feel comfortable if you want to party with them. They don't care if you're from China or Germany. The more the merrier. Be warned though, at the end of the day you're wearing either a kilt or an orange wig. 😉The only fandoms that really love each other and mix well together, have a click, party hard when they meet up are the Dutch and the Celts like Irish, welsh and the Scots. Germans don't mix with anyone to be honest. They try though. They're very hospitable, respect other fans/teams/countries, but it feels like there is always a certain distance. They act like they think they have to act, copy certain behaviour, not from the heart like the Dutch, Irish, Scots or Welsh. The English is a another matter. They grind everyone's gears...grrrrrrr.😂😉😂

(Google said it better than I could) The orange color that’s present throughout much of Dutch culture is a nod to the royal family, which is made up of members of the House of Orange. The dynasty dates back to 1544 when William of Orange inherited the estate and title at the age of 11. In the years after WIlliam of Orange ascended the throne and the Netherlands gained independence from Spanish rule, the national flag was originally blue, white and orange. However, over the course of the last nearly five centuries, the country traded out the orange for red. The reason is not entirely known. Some subscribe to the lore that red was simply easier to spot on the open water -- an important fact for a sea-faring country. Others believe the change was part of a 1654 treaty with the English agreeing to adopt the colors of a Bavarian Coat of Arms. Still others suggest that the orange dye used for the flags turned red over time until the Netherlands just made the change official. Despite the lack of orange in the country’s flag, the color is ubiquitous throughout many Dutch sporting events and celebrations of the royal family. (I add myself: Willem van Oranje, William of Orange, was the leader of the Dutch revolt against Spanish rule in our country. It became known as the 80 years war. He was from the house of Nassau (in Germany) and became prince of Orange (in southern France.) Carrots, yes we all know them, those orange vegetables.. were made orange in honor of our king hundreds of years ago. Exported all over the world it became known as the color that carrots naturally are.)

All correct except that William of Orange was never King. He'd been appointed stadhouder (i.e., steward, or representative of a largely absent monarch) by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V but became the leader of the rebellion that led to the formation of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands (1579-1795) under Charles's son Philip II of Spain. Successive members of the House of Orange then served as commander in chief and highest executive official of the Republic ever since, until the establishment of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, when they were elevated to kingship, in 1815. And that is why orange has been our national colour since the 16th century ;-).

The Scottish fans are all funny, friendly, not violent at all, they love our German beer (they enjoy it in gallons) and were devastated after we beat them 5 to de-facto 0 (The Scottish goal was an own goal mistake by Rüdiger!). We gave a couple of free beers to the saddest Scottish fans we found that night in order to cheer them up a bit. There are clips on YT from boys around 20 that are so enthusiastic; they state that their trip to Germany is their first trip to a foreign country ever and they saved up money for it like 4 to 5 years in advance with typical part time jobs teenagers do like washing cars or delivering newspapers and milk bottles. That's what I call true spirit! -- The Dutch fans here in Hamburg were just great! People from the Netherlands always have a good sense of humor, German as a language is mandatory in their schools, so they all speak German, and they had a good time in Hamburg beating Poland 2:0, so the trip over from Holland was worth it. The Royal house of Oranje-Nassau comes from the German dutchy of Nassau. Because the Royal family name is Oranje (orange) that is the national color of the Netherlands. -- To sum it up, we love the Scottish and the Dutch fans. Firstly, the orange happens to be the colour of the royal Dutch household. William of orange, who was a protestant fought Catholic King James of England, in ireland, was defeated by William and since the colour orange has been adopted by the protestant loyalist of Northern Ireland. The Irish flag of the Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪 is an attempt or olive branch in which the nationalist flag of green is placed with the orange flag of unionist with the white flag of peace/ neutrality in-between.

Over the next month it will be crazy in Europe. Lots of games between different countries, and all the fans on the street encouraging their country. In the case of Portugal, the reception of the Portuguese team was carried out with thousands of motorbikes from the airport to the Hotel, they were Portuguese who went to Germany There is a large Portuguese community residing in Germany, and many were Portuguese emigrants to Germany. This support for motorcycles began in 2004, when Portugal organized the Euro. Thousands of motorbikes followed the national team to the stadiums on game day, guarded the players, etc. The tradition remains.

Dude, it's an international tournament. You can't compare it to the NFL (maybe college gridiron?). All the games are played in one country (Germany in this case) and the fans travel to stay for the whole tournament or until their team is eliminated. The fact is that this is a tournament between countries and there are no fights between fans, with the exception of English fans obv and those from countries that have recently experienced war or rift (like the Balkans). The atmosphere is generally friendly and everyone is on holiday to enjoy football.

There's so much to explain here ^^ The first point is that Germany and Scotland have no real rivalry as far as fans in "football" are concerned, and are therefore very friendly with each other, and also we both have a certain dislike of the English (in the football sense). Which brings us to the English. They are still mentally stuck somewhere in 1940 and think that football is just another battlefield of the Second World War and that we Germans are therefore their natural enemy. However, that only applies to them but not to us Germans. We have 4 World Cup titles, but the English only have one... which they won over 60 years ago. And apart from the one World Cup title, they've never actually won anything else at international level in football. Our "final boss", on the other hand, is the Netherlands. Although the rivalry here is more of a tongue-in-cheek affair. But there were some really "hateful moments" over 30 years ago when Frank Rijkaard spat at the German player Rudi Völler and Völler got a yellow card for it.

The double decker bus, with music and singers, in front, followed by the dancing crowd. It's such a big happening, nobody wants to miss it. good banter ;) It's no surprise that England and Scotland "hate each other" (not really, of course)

The orange color represents the Royal House of Orange. The statues are of the football players of 1988 when the Netherlands won: Gullit was clearly visible. And Van Basten will probably be there too. They dance to the song Links,Rechts by De Snollebollekes (left, right). The double-decker bus is always at such events. It was completely renovated for the European Championships. I am proud of my fellow Dutch people. Celebrating without incidents.

I'm working in Frankfurt... In literal "heraring distance" of the stadium... Which is actually quite a bit away... But the fans cheering at every (almost) goal can be heard throughout the whole city quarter ! XD
