Mike Vanderjagt knows this all too well. He was something like 97% on the year when he missed the field goal that cost the Colts against Steelers. Unfortunately, it was what cost a playoff game. A great career for a kicker was washed out with that one kick, never recovered.

This is why I have always said, I think mentally, being a field goal kicker is the hardest job in football, followed closely by the QB. Everything can come down to one kick and if you don’t execute it perfectly depending on the range, your team could lose because of you.
