What is being missed in this whole conversation is the intent behind the rule to protect the QB as well as the intent of the player as they attempt to tackle someone. It’s clear they had ill-intent as the both dove headlong at Mahomes. That kind of tackling has to be controlled just as much as the whole idea behind WHY the QB should be “protected “

@ The first there was clearly no contact to the head whatsoever you need to go back and watch again- all contact was to the shoulder pad. And you can't wait for the defender to initiate a legal tackle then dive so you get hit in the head. The defender has to initiate the contact. Neither should have been called and its always with the chiefs. It's not a coincidence man, we're not all just haters. The NFL clearly protects its money makers and real football fans are sick of it. I never understood complaining about calls that are actually penalties. We act like, well it was barely a penalty and are expecting them to not call those. Do people think there is some rule that something is not a penalty if its barely there? We don't do that with face mask or pulling on the jersey when caught. Its dumb to think this way. At the end of the day, those were penalties regardless if they weren't bad. Im only referring to these two shown. I think people let bias take over too much and only want to see what they want to see. Not to say there isn't bad calls or no calls sometimes. Just weird how many people are complaining about penalties that are penalties.
@Angel-mt8eg
@Angel-mt8eg 12 күн бұрын
Ben Austro says otherwise. The contact was high, but there was no forcible contact to the head and neck area. This should not have been penalized. Even in this video they agreed. And on the second one: On a run like this, there are NO quarterback protections, only those available to any other runner. Mahomes can be contacted because of his late decision to slide, except the Texans may not forcibly contact him in the head or neck area. Defenders are instructed to go over the top. There is contact to his head, but there is also contact to the body which makes the contact incidental and not forcible to the head. What officials do see if Henry To’oTo’o entering the tackle with his forearm in front. There is a signature of a forcible shot to the head, and unfortunately the crew took this as a foul.

Dummy... After the bad calls were made what were Texans supposed to do? The momentum was shifted and Texans couldn't go as hard. Refs messed them up mentally thus all the mistakes. Plus it didn't help leaving Kelce open. Did the refs start the shift? Yes!!! Gtfoh

I lost all respect for Mahomes when I saw him slow down and then flop as he was running out of bounds trying to draw a foul . Thats just trying to game the system that was meant to protect players . Hopefully they install a flopping penalty that punishes this kind of behavior. It’s hard enough to win games in the NFL playing straight up but when he gets gifted first down’s that extend drives that would otherwise have been stopped it’s unfair and deflating to defenses that worked hard to stop drives .

@ It’s called cheating . Flopping is not ethical . It’s gaming the system plain and simple. The protections the league put in place are there to help prevent players from getting serious injuries from routine plays but this clown 🤡 is taking advantage of the rules . He slides late and then flops , he slows down in front of players going full speed then flops and immediately looks at the referee and complains to try to get a cheap call . Like I said “ No respect for cheaters “ .

Walt Anderson isn't going to stray too far from the company line and expose his comrades in officiating. The problem is how the NFL has implemented these rules, all under the guise of "safety," which allows for these broad and liberal interpretations of what "forceable contact," "unnecessary roughness," and "defenseless players" are. They can pigeon-hole almost anything under those "rules!" It's pathetic, it's ruining the game, and making many fans disillusioned with the product! Why even have qb's wear uniforms anymore? They've gone so overboard with "protecting" qb's that they've made the game a mere caricature of it's former greatness! The game is so micro-managed now with constant stoppages of play, and with all of these rules to "protect the players," which is nothing but a ruse which allows the league- vis-a-vis these officiating crews- to control and steer the games in a desired direction! Trust nothing this multi-billion dollar conglomerate says!
