There are so many moving parts in trying to schedule the 272 games within all the rules and division rotational matchups that must be met, you are not going to have a 100 percent perfect schedule every single year. Have you ever watched the behind the scenes video of the making of the NFL schedule? Now you want them to throw on top of all that complexity, hypothetical post season scenarios from Baseball?

The only way this is an issue is if either the Pirates or the Reds get so hot that one of them not only overtakes the Brewers for the NL Central lead, but also overtakes either the Dodgers or the better team between the Phillies and the Braves. As of May 17 2024, that doesn't look likely. I think that Pittsburgh and Cincinnati will be all right.

I think a 3 PM game would be an issue, since it's hard to schedule around. 1 PM and SNF are fine. If the Pirates host an LDS game, it will be at 1 PM. If the Reds host, it will be at 7 PM. It's impossible for them both to host. And we're not even sure yet that the NLDS will be on that day (might be a travel day). Also, I think the NFL is banking on the Dodgers and the Braves/Phillies having a higher seed than the Central. Even if the Pirates or Reds win the division, they will probably be the #3 seed, which means they would be traveling that day. So no problem. BTW, other potential issues: Seahawks host in Week 5 (problem if Mariners are 1 or 2 seed), Chiefs host MNF in Week 5 (problem if Royals are 1 or 2 seed--ha!), Seahawks host TNF in Week 6 (problem for Mariners if ALDS goes full length), Eagles and Ravens host in Week 6 (problem if Phillies/Orioles host NLCS), Steelers host in Week 7 (problem for Phillies if NLCS goes full length), Lions/Seahawks/Bengals host in Week 8 (problem if Tigers/Mariners/Reds are in WS), and Steelers host MNF in Week 7 (problem if Pirates are in WS). So it's not just limited to these games. They'll work around it as they always do--they're not going to schedule them at the same time.
@WhoDeyBrew645 ай бұрын
Reds only fill up 25% of their stadium so it shouldn't be terrible for Bengal fans parking.
@jcurnutte20075 ай бұрын
And good luck as far as if both the Reds and Pirates make the playoffs right now they would be no higher than the 3 seed and they wouldn't play each other until the NLCS unless one of them ends up being 1 or 4 or 2 or 3 because the bracket is set up so that 1 plays the 4,5 winner and 2 plays the 3,6 winner so at best the Reds and Pirates would end up playing each other in the wildcard round and that's not going to conflict with the NFL

On every Steelers schedule I've seen so far they have 17 games and play the Browns twice and the Ravens twice but play the Bengals only once. Then at the end of the schedule is Bengals Steelers (TBD). Is the NFL sneaking in an 18th game this year?
@Depressedscratcher5135 ай бұрын
I hope this is a joke. The TBD is the time and date. If they are both in playoffs contention, they can be flexed into the SNF spot.

Ravens and Orioles also share parking lots, as do Seahawks and Mariners and Phillies/Eagles. In the case of Philadelphia, those stadiums are a good deal distant from each other. Baltimore and Seattle have their stadiums next to each other. It would be feasible for all three aforementioned cities to have a baseball game on a Thursday afternoon and a Thursday night NFL game the same day. Another example, last October Baltimore had an Orioles/Rangers ALDS game in the afternoon, and then at night a Billy Joel/Stevie Nicks concert

@jcurnutte20075 ай бұрын
The 3 seed has to play in the wildcard round first (along with 4,5&6) and the higher seed hosts games 1&2 in the LDS so the Reds or Pirates have to finish 1 or 2 in the NL overall and get the bye and right now the Phillies and Dodgers are 1&2 and both the Pirates and Reds are 5 and 6 games behind the Cubs (Cincinnati is tied for last with St. Louis) the Reds and Pirates have a better shot at the wildcard but they got a bunch of teams ahead of them (including a virtual 3 way tie between San Diego, Arizona and Washington, with only 2 percentage points between all 3, and then the Mets 0.5 game back) so even if they get in the playoffs they will be away for games 1&2 of the LDS)

Even if they do make it somebody is going to end having to go to LA and right now Philadelphia so if anyone is going to have an issue that week it may be the Eagles
@jcurnutte20075 ай бұрын
And the Eagles have the bye that week so it's actually good news, now for the Ravens because the Orioles still are the number 1 seed in the AL meaning no issues for Baltimore and even if they drop down behind the Yankees they would be the 4 seed at best and would have to go to New York but the O's would have to play in the wildcard round first and win it (the only team that can catch the O's for the number 1 seed in the AL is Cleveland right now because there's no way the AL West winner will not be the 3 seed ) and the Ravens are at Cincinnati in week 5 so another conflict avoided

@@jcurnutte2007Not really. The Eagles have a bye week during week five and the Phillies and Eagles have their own parking lots.

@@jcurnutte2007 I think the NFL intentionally gave the Eagles a Week 5 bye knowing the Phillies could be hosting Game 1 or 2 of the NLDS that Sunday. They really should have scheduled the Eagles for no home games in Weeks 5-8 (one of those the bye week) and assume the Phillies go to the World Series.
