Fun fact: Conrad Dobler once kicked Merlin Olsen in the head during a football game in the early 70s. Five years after Merlin Olsen retired, he starred as the title character in Father Murphy, a short lived NBC series in the early 80s and in one episode there was a cemetery scene where there was a shot of a headstone behind Olsen's character. The name on the headstone, Conrad Dobler.

During the time that Conrad Dobler played for the Cardinals the offensive line they had was crackerjack. They weren't called the "Cardiac Cardinals" for nothing. Don Coryell was the coach during that era. Wherever Don Coryell went, he produced winners. The problem with the Cardinals and still is to a certain extent is Bill Bidwill. They used to call him "Dollar" Bill Bidwill for a reason. Now that his son has taken over operations, things are quite a bit different and the Cardinals are actually winning (for a change).

we at Ima Sportsphile get it.....but you will never see that game again....cuz MONEY changed everything and made crybabies out of lots of players who didn't even come close to the talent of Beckam Jr....for you simply need to bookmark Ima Sportsphile and visit often....as we are sure you will find more REAL football that isn't wussified than in any other place....with so much more to come.

Ima Sportsphile yeah, I do understand, but it is sickening to realize how different the game is. Just once, Is LOVE to see OBJ get clocked by a Romanpwski maybe a Lott, or perhaps a Jack Tatum type.

my Bone Daddy the original Sportsphile was at Super Bowl XV in New Orleans in 1981....and while partying at Lucky Pierre's....the true "House of the Rising Sun" in the Crescent City....when Tatum and Fred "The Hammer" Williamson came into the place....as BD sent the Boys from Oakland a complimentary bottle of Dom Perignon and two of Lucky's finest to enjoy to their hardest desire....and Da Raiders returned the favor with 40 yard line tickets....as BD calls Tatum one of the toughest characters he has ever met.

Back when football was football, played by men. I grew up listening to the Cardiac Cardinals and Dobler, Dierdorf, Hart... They never won the Super Bowl for St Louis, but they were usually exciting.

as an offensive linemen in high school I looked up to Dobler. Not because he was dirty but because he was an O linemen that got noticed by the media

We at www.imasportsphile.com who are responsible for posting this vintage video along with 2500 others from the same era really appreciate this comment....cuz it is true that O linemen almost never get noticed....except at our web site where we have many NFL and NCAA videos that showcase and highlight the O line.
