John Taylor really doesn't get the credit he deserves. After watching highlights of his career, there wasn't a route he couldn't run or a catch he couldn't make. If his role was as big as Jerry Rice, he's remembered as one of the top wideouts to play the game. The man was an absolute student of the game.

If they had the rules then that we have now injuries wouldn't have stopped that team like they did. The 85 bears were the same team in 84 and we beat the brakes off of them but when Joe goes down with an elbow injury look who won the ship. Same in 90 with the hit that would be considered illegal in today's league. And perhaps Joe plays for more years instead of the 9-13 healthy years he had. That team took the NFL by storm and would have been one for the record books had they not have such freakish injuries get them.

@@justamaninTN I don't know if the 49ers had the best team in 1983 they were kind of an up-and-down team they were 10-6. The Redskins were clearly the best team in the NFC they were defending champs they were blowing teams out left and right. I just think the raiders matched up well with the Redskins lethality where's other teams didn't really match up well with the Redskins in 1983, especially when the raiders made that in season trade to get Hall of Fame cornerback Mike Hayes and team him up with Lester Hayes that's what put them over the top right there because you couldn't throw on a raiders after that.

Joey Mulley WRONG ! Brady will NEVER be on Montana's level and the Pats Dynasty is the WEAKEST of ANY other Dynasty just so you know! Steelers 4 SB's in 6 years,49ers 4 SB's in 9 years,etc.Pats 3 SB's in 4 years as the other 2 SB's don't count towards those other 3 SB's because there is a 10 year GAP in between them.Steelers and 49ers the ONLY 2 teams to win 4 SB's in under 10 years and the Pats have a 10 year GAP and you think they are the best Dynasty???? Go sit down before you fall down !

Joey Mullaney Well you surprised me with that response because I'm use to not sure if you are one or not but millennials being so bias and unfair in their comparisons of 2 QB's from different eras or the comparisons between the 2 teams.The Giants won 4 SB's but it was over a 26 year period so that is not what you would call a Dynasty.Winning a bunch of SB's in a short period of time and winning a bunch in a long period of time is not comparable.Yes Montana has signature moments like the Dwight Clark catch in the 1981 NFC Champ game and the drive in SB XXIII with John Taylor catching the winning pass.

I like to think of the late 80s 49ers has being the most balanced team of all time because they had a great QB (Joe Montana), good RB (Roger Craig), great WR (Jerry Rice), great DE (Charles Haley), and great FS (Ronnie Lott). The main reason I don't put the early 90s Cowboys there is because of the 49ers having the edge on QB, WR, and DB while the Cowboys only edged them more in RB because Montana & Rice are considered better than Aikman & Irvin while the Cowboys didn't have a Hall of Famer DB like the 49ers had with Lott (both teams had Haley & Sanders, so they net out in this case!)

Joseph Harris , 60s Packers have HOFers at every position category but receiver/tight end. Offensive backfield: Starr, Taylor, Hornung. Offensive line: Ringo, Gregg, Kramer. Defensive line: Davis, Jordan. Linebacker: Nitschke, Robinson. Defensive back: Wood, Adderley. 70s Steelers: Offensive backfield: Bradshaw, Harris. Receiver: Swann, Stallworth. Offensive line: Webster. Defensive line: Greene. Linebacker: Ham, Lambert. Defensive back: Blount. 80s 49ers have Montana, Young, Rice, Dean, Haley and Lott. The common denominator I see with these teams was head coaching by men who'd paid their dues as assistant coaches, developed their own visions and philosophies during their years of apprenticeship, then assembled and trained players who adhered to the vision and refused to be anything but champions. And Joe Gibbs achieved similar success with even fewer great players than Lombardi, Noll and Walsh.

What Bill Walsh created was SO impactful that even today in 2020 we see his fingerprints in the NFL all over the place! Sean Payton, Kyle Shanahan, Andy Reid, even Bill Belichick, who spent a lot of his early career with the Giants trying to devise defenses to stop Walsh's machine-like West Coast Offense. Walsh, Montana, Rice, Lott set a standard of excellence that is STILL being pursued in my view

Joey Mullaney like hell Montana played In an Era when football was football and penalties weren't thrown if ya hit someone to high or after the pass was thrown it was a tougher Era where teams were far superior than teams today things were still fair when there was no salary cap every team could be great Montana played in an NFC division against great players like Theisman Singletary Taylor many more you don't even realize how stacked the nfc was Montana had to work harder than Brady did to get his rings the Afc is weak af currently Bradys competition has left Manning gone Big Ben old and not as good as he was Cheifs they just choke Ravens don't even make the playoffs anymore Bengals suck colts got luck but that's it broncos and texans have playoff caliber defenses but no Qb Raiders still need work Titans don't even make the playoffs but are up and coming the rest of the Afc east is terrible except for the dolphins but I think they were a fluke Jags maybe but haven't made the playoffs for years now Brady has no competition is what I'm saying he has the best team in football currently he is a system Qb with the best defense best receiving core but a little shaky on the oline ok now really me why he's better than Montana

On a strictly 10-year decade, I don't see how they ranked the Steelers over the 49ers, as they both won EXACTLY the same accomplishments during their respective decades: 4 Super Bowl Titles, 4 Conference Titles, 5 Conference Championship Game appearances, 7 Division Titles, and 8 Playoff Berths. They even won their Super Bowls in almost the SAME years, which is really weird! '74, '78-'79 for the Steelers, '84, '88-'89 for the Niners. So on a decade basis only, how do you choose which team was better? My argument is for the 49ers, because their dynasty continued on into the 90's with another Super Bowl Title, while the Steelers obviously didn't during the 80's.

Are you kidding me? Not one mention of the defense? No Ronnie Lott, Charles Haley, Fred Dean, Hacksaw Reynolds, no Keena Turner, no Dwight Hicks? Not even the defensive coordinator George Seifert who won a couple of Super Bowls himself? People seem to forget that after The Catch happened, the defense still had to stop the Cowboys from driving down the field and scoring with 51 seconds left in the game. Danny White connected with Drew Pearson on a 31-yard pass, torching Eric Wright in the process. Lawrence Pillars sacked White on the next play and forced a fumble that Jim Stuckey recovered to win the NFC Championship.

It's a meaningless comment. Shula is one of the greatest of all time, and he won Super Bowls with Bob Griese and Earl Morrall not with Johnny Unitas or Dan Marino. Jim Kelly and Marv Levy never sealed the deal. Saying having a great coach and great quarterback increases your chances of winning the Super Bowl is like saying the sky is blue, everybody knows that. But having a great coach/qb combo doesn't guarantee success.

@DireHammer
@DireHammer 8 жыл бұрын
+SkyScream 7 No, Don Coryell never used Walsh's offense. Air Coryell was at one time called the "West Coast Offense", but that offense had nothing in common with Walsh's system. Air Coryell was a vertical passing game, not a short passing game using motion, utilizing short passes instead of runs, and a dependence on a timing quarterback and receivers capable of running precise routes. Walsh designed the earliest forms of the offense in Cincinnati under Paul Brown utilizing the accurate passing of Ken Anderson. It was further developed to take advantage of Montana's mobility, then Craig's pass-catching skills, and Rice's RAC.

If Joe would of had the same rules protecting players he'd have a lot of super bowl appearances as well. Two of which were significant playoff injuries. He didn't get beat he was unable to play. 87 and 90 they were just as special. 85 he went down with an injury possibly could have had 7 or 8 inside of a decade. Brady just doesn't measure up

The 49ers Dynasty is the greatest dynasty of all the time even greater than the New England Patriots of today and the reason being is because the New England Patriots of today which some people would believe is the greatest dynasty of all time learned from the 49ers Dynasty even Bill Belichick said he learned how to build a winning Dynasty team from Bill Walsh and Bill Belichick also said that a lot of things it takes to build a winning culture and a winning Dynasty he would not have known had it not been for Bill Walsh Belichick admitted it. But the greatest reason that the 49ers are the greatest dynasty of all time is because the New England Patriots and Tom Brady 6 Ring Dynasty came as a result of Bill Walsh's West Coast offense that Bill Belichick has used for all the years Tom Brady has been there and Wes Welker admitted on a football Life TV show that Bill Belichick made Both he and Tom Brady watch and study hours and hours of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice film of the West Coast offense so all the Tom Brady offensive 6 ring success you can thank Bill Walsh and the 49er Dynasty for teaching Brady and Belichick that and contributing to that pariot success so you can add their success the Patriots success to Bill washes resume also and Mike Holmgren success and Sean Payton success Andy Reid success Jon Gruden success some of Pete Carroll success Mike Shanahan success Tony Dungy success Doug Peterson success and the list goes on. A lot of people forget that some of these championship coaches come from Bill Walshes coaching tree or the person who taught them came from Bill Walsh coaching tree Bill Walsh is the greatest coach of all time because he built a machine called the West Coast offense that has been winning Super Bowl and will keep winning Super Bowls for NFL coaches long after he died.

There's no way their 1st East Coast Media Bias lol... 3 what a miracle lol. Better coach GM? Better strategist? Better teacher of players? Best team had QB Montana & backup QB Young. What did Lombardi Packers do without him? Nothing. The Dallas Cowboys fell apart till a guy fired all the coaches and players without Landry. Don Shula leaves? Chuck Knoll? Only coach is Paul Brown who had sustained run with replacement & 2 SB loses to Walsh. Walsh leaves... win SB 55-10... sustained victories and another SB with his team.

For anyone who says Tom Brady is the greatest of all time, you don’t have a clue as to what you’re talking about...Montana played 15 seasons in an era of football where Montana took a hellacious beating on a weekly basis, went 4-0 in the super bowl and had an 11:0 TD:INT ratio in the Super Bowls! Brady plays in a much softer era where you can’t so much as part your hair the wrong way at Brady without getting a bajillion flags thrown at you and that has allowed him to play longer (currently in his 18th season), and while he has been to a record 8 Super Bowls he only boasts a 5-3 record and an 18:5 TD:INT ratio! Montana > Brady!

Why not on defense the 49ers had Ronnie Lott the greatest defensive back in NFL history!? NFL rated him the greatest defensive back in NFL history and the 2nd greatest defensive player next to Linebacker Lawrence Taylor. They said the 49ers won 3 Super Bowls in the 80's they really won 4, because the following season in Super Bowl 24 they destroyed demolished annihilated wiped out the Denver Broncos 55-10 though it was in 1990, they call it Super Bowl 1989, because the regular season was in 1989. They did not mention Wide Receiver Dwight Clark, though they did show "The Catch" which was done by Dwight Clark. Why did John Taylor only get one catch? If he was in the NFL today he will be at the level of Jordy Nelson and Demaryius Thomas. Steve Young did quite a lot. He started in a couple of important games. He already was at Top class Hall Of Famer level. Though Joe Montana was the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Go 49ers.

@@tomw3886 title of the video says 80s 49ers tho, and why just talk about the walsh 49ers when they won it the next year. Also by just mentioning the walsh 49ers they are cutting the 49ers short of a championship then. The 60 Packers got all their titles so dose the 70s Steelers. With the 90s cowboys they just don't mention the jimmy Johnson cowboys do they?
