Since it didn't get mentioned in "Best of the Rest," someone should comment. What NaVarro Bowman did in the 2013 NFC Championship with under 9 minutes left was the manliest play I've ever seen on a football field. Meeting Jermaine Kearse at the goaline, he ripped and tore the ball from the WR's possesion. "I am going to take this from you! Regardless of the cost! Because my team needs it." His leg was bent back & pinned underneath him. He was never the same player again, and he was a hell of a player. It cost him his career. It may not be an indelible image, in fact it was quite gruesome, but if Dwight Clark gets on this list for one play, Bowman at least deserves to be mentioned. Oh ya, he held onto the ball too, despite being in pain many of us will never know.

Nah, Brady is the Goat of QB's now. 9 SB appearances to 4. 6 championships to 4. Brady has a higher winning percentage than Montana. The only statistic in Montanas career that is greater than Bradys is SB average Passer Rating. Brady has more SB MVPs, league MVPs. Brady needs to average just 9 wins over the next 2 seasons to double Montana in total wins. Bradys needs just 5429 yards to double Montana in total passing yards. Which Brady will likely do.
@trevorasher37694 жыл бұрын
If you still think Montana is better than Brady, you're just wrong. Objectively wrong. More yards, more tds, more MVPs, less int, higher passer rating, more wins, more playoff wins, more super bowl MVPs and most importantly more Super Bowl wins than any player in NFL history

one of my problems with lists like these is they seem to favor players who've played most recently are most vivid in everyone's memory. Older players who are in the hall of fame like Jimmy Johnson, Dave Wilcox, Leo Nomellini, Y A Tittle, plus great players like John Brodie and Charlie Krueger, played so long ago that no one remembers them. I'm 60, and growing up i remember my dad talking about them and how great they were. But no body really remembers them today which is sad. But i guess this is true with every team in the NFL.

Roger Craig and Ricky Watters both deserve the HOF ...for some reason Canton keeps stiffing San Fran RB's
@davidroberts72824 жыл бұрын
Dont worry, it's pretty much guaranteed that Frank Gore is a complete idiot's guide future first-ballot HOF in regards to his long, successful, enduring career. I know he's been gone from the Bay Area for several years and had a few good seasons with the Colts, but most NFL fans in general and 49ers fans specifically will identify him most as a Niner. I'm a Saints fan but even I recognize his best, most productive seasons were in San Francisco. Rickey Watters was a great RB with 49ers and with Eagles but he came across as egocentric, egotistical, pestering wannabe Muhammad Ali-gimmicks he did, except a lot of people didn't find it really funny. He got away with it for most part as a Niner, but in Philly they viewed him as an obnoxious, me-first punk who cared more about his stats then making a key first down when his team was driving late in the 4th quarter and he doesnt go all out and catch it. I think that incident I'm referencing happened in Philly vs. Tampa in a 1995 home game. Eagles fans respect you if you're a tough, hard-nosed player and you give maximum effort and leave the showboating pyrotechnics to a minimum. If you can back it up, you're allowed to be a bit brash, maybe cocky but dont make a habit out of it like TO or Freddie Mitchell did. If Roger Craig had put up maybe 1-2, perhaps 3 more 1,000 rushing seasons, he might been in the HOF. He's a light borderline HOF which sort of like Wes Welker I suppose, two great NFL players who had close to 10-year long careers with excellent stats but the final career statistics reveal if they had 1-2 very good seasons, they'd be likely HOFs but it never happened. Bob Baumhower, great Miami Dolphins DE and NT who played from 1977-86 and got voted to 5 Pro Bowls and played (and lost) in SBs XVII and XIX. If he had won just one of those SBs(perhaps SB XVII) he might've gotten in. Irving Fryar and Stanley Morgan of the late 70s/1980s Patriots teams also fall in that same category, too.

Fun fact Patrick Willis is fucking shredded. My goodness he is jacked. And he was so fast as well. Incredible in pass coverage both zone and manning up. Also the intangibles were there, a leader of men, always was in a spot to make a play on the ball, and more importantly he finished plays as well as anyone. An all time physique who could cover the pass, could THUMP anyone running in the middle (my god he could lay the wood), had the speed to shut down the running game sideline to sideline, and a beloved teammate and leader while carrying himself like a true role model off the fan. P.S. Look at how JACKED he was. With that speed he just put people on their ass, after authority. What a great MLB

I think Roger Craig should have been higher on the list at #5. He was the first running back to get 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in a season, and he was also the workhorse of that great 49ers offense. He was so versatile and fit perfectly into Walsh's offensive scheme. It's tough to decide between Jerry Rice and Joe Montana for the #1 spot. A case can be made for both players to be in that #1 spot. Jerry Rice gave Joe Montana and Steve Young great careers, but the flip side of the coin is that without a QB like Montana, Rice likely does not set those records.

Lack of speed was Gore’s weakness. He did not have great break away speed. He was caught from behind many times. So Tom Rathman was wrong.
@cehamlet892 жыл бұрын
Which, to me, is weird because on the older Madden games (06-10) he always had like 90+ speed

Yes that is not right for 33 R. Craig not to be in H.O F. He blocked for Mike Rozier and was drafted way after him. Rozier didn't have half the career that Roger did!👍

Montana was there from the very beginning of the dynasty, I assume that's why they put him as no 1.

I’m not sure why but of all the sports dynasties, if the 49ers qualify, in all sports I hate the Niners the least. Other than TO I don’t remember any insufferable jack ass’s playing Meball.
