He's happy to be an OC there but more importantly he's happy to be wanted for what he brings. Dan Quinn said he went out of his way to convince Kliff to come to DC because he informed him he wanted a former HC who could tell him "that doesn't fucking work" when it comes to his defensive play calls/adjustments in specific scenarios. Quinn wanted to be challenged, felt he had too many yes men in his last opportunity and it hurt him. Probably helps Kliff got away from Steve Keim too.

More power, more money, more prestige, and a chance to prove he can be a head coach will be tough to pass up if he’s offered the job. It’s like people saying a player on their team will be willing to take less money to help with the cap, it doesn’t actually happen when the contract is offered
@Gungho73

@@chrisuncleahmad789 Now imagine instead of pulling a Shottenheimer and always accepting the loss for your idealogy failing in those moments, holding yourself accountable and going "lets get a guy in here that also deals with this on the other side of the ball and try to figure this one out." Like I respect it a lot more then you might because so many coaches are hell or high water, my way or the highway when it didn't make remotely any sense after a point. For example, I love Pete Carroll here in WA, but the dude was not evolving his defenses and that held my team back for arguably a decade even as we were competing for playoff spots. There was noone to tell him after more then 3 decades of doing so that his defensive philosophy didn't work anymore. And you find that with a lot of these coaches there's no adaptation. At the very least I respect Kliff/Dan for trying to do something to change that very real perception of them. Because I definitely got where you were coming from with that comment.

He proves it every time he talks about football on various podcasts. He proved it when he invented the Giants defense of the 80's, winning 2 SB with those Giants and how good were those offenses? His coaching and his game plans beat some of the best offenses in NFL history, Joe Montana and his 49ers, Bills K-Gun, Greatest show on turf Rams, Legion of Boom and the Malcolm Butler interception, Andy Reid and Mahomes chiefs. He took the Browns to the playoffs. Without Bill Belichick, Tom Brady wouldn't have gotten the chance to become a great QB. He would not have been drafted or had any playing time with any other organization. Brady didn't become elite until 2003 at the earliest. And Lastly, Brady gives Belichick the credit and respect he deserves so it's not about "one or the other"

Great to hear so many talking about the Commanders, but if the Lions keep playing at that level they are #1 seed and probably play in the big show. Commanders are among those hitting jackpot on QB lottery in recent years. What only some discuss is the added bonus beyond talent in the position a team then gets for cap management. They need to start being a bit more careful with dead cap the next few years, but other than that they could be a serious contender not just this year, but for a long time going forward.

So many want to talk about Belichick to the Cowboys to right the ship, but if we're going to talk about him coming back, why not Chicago? Good QB. Good defense. A chance to win. And Bill can bring in an OC who might actually be Kingsbury (since he really doesn't want to be a HC). We always want to talk about where previously successful coaches will go to have instant success and Chicago seems much more lucrative than Dallas. And I personally don't think Bill can fix the Cowboys. The only man that can fix the Cowboys is Jerry Jones by hiring a real GM to manage the team instead of him. PS. Chiefs fan here so no Chicago homer bias.

As a packers fan, maybe it’s because we had a QB for 20 years that refused to take a chance and only cared about his TD:INT ratio so we never won in the playoffs, but I’m honestly fine with the way Love plays. For 20 years I watched Rodgers just throw it away or spike it on 3rd down because he was afraid to throw into coverage and mess his stats up. Made me sick. I knew we’d never win because of it. He’s a ME guy. Love does whatever he can on every play to try to make something happen. I kinda love it and I’m okay with it. The bad picks are getting concerning but there’s so much talent there and some of his throws are just unreal. If he learns situationally when it’s best to throw it away on early downs or before half and keeps that aggressiveness for 3rd downs or when they need a play, he’ll be phenomenal. Either way I love this dude

When more than half the cap is tied up with three players next year, and they still have no O or D line, Bill would be a fool to go to a team that needs a rebuild. Rich has obviously never looked up the word "matriculate." He took its misuse from Hank Stram, coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, and somehow, unfortunately, it has stuck. People think it means to move in a slow, trickling manner, and that's not even CLOSE.

Feels like Rich's opinion on the Cowboys is straight outta 1994. They arent gonna be good just "because theyre the Cowboys". That doesnt even make sense, especially since we are watching them crash and burn right in front of our eyes, as we normally do in the playoffs but this year we get the satisfaction of this all being mid-season

Future Overreaction. Biggest threat to Kansas City isn’t the Ravens or Bills, it’ll be the Steelers once they beat Washington after their bye and beat Lamar again to start 8-2.

I wasn’t surprised the Jets beat the Texans Thursday. Desperate spot, at home and you get the kicker of the game being on Thursday night football. Neither team looked well prepared, and the jets just made fewer mistakes in the end. Now, the panic button might be hit if they lose to my lions at home on Sunday night football. But, they have the advantage of being in one of the worst divisions in football, so they could probably drop a few games and still win their division

I think he will. They need to get healthy. I know the Lions were obviously missing some people and Branch got ejected. Lions played a cleaner game that allowed them to win. Different players at the center and CB could have prevented the bad handoffs to love, and maybe lions don't score that first TD. LaFleur will coach Love better about the interceptions and Love will also improve. He went on a heater 2nd half of the seaon when he was healthy which he hasn't been all year. Let him rest and then see what happens but Packers need to get out of their own way and have the talent to make it to the conference game at least.

Texans are NOT frauds. That coach of theirs is fully capable of having them ready to play - they just ran into a team that does have real actual talent and was absolutely DESPERATE for a win - like the kind of desperate where the whole locker room is playing for their pride. I still think the Texans win at least one playoff game.
