You just have to respect Stafford after that play. Evading the linemen for that long, getting the ball that far down field, taking the hit that he did, and coming in for that final play to complete a difficult past is truly great
@matwetton
@matwetton 2 жыл бұрын
he was mic'd up that game. if you can find the footage its amazing, the hit separated his shoulder, he says on it that he can throw the ball if they need him to. its why it was so wide open. the browns expected run because of the injury

Browns made TWO game-losing mistakes on that same play/sequence. The video shows first one (the penalty extending the game) but then, with Stafford hurt on the sidelines and the backup QB in the game, the Browns called timeout after seeing the offensive setup, which gave Stafford the time/opportunity to come back into the game for the final play.

@@pidayrocks2235 That backup was Dante Culpepper iirc. They probably feared that he was just going to try and run it in, being rather large himself. I always loved how Stafford never gave up though. That being said this game wasn't lost because of the fumble it was lost because vontaze burfict is a moron and Adam Jones is an even bigger moron. There is likely no field goal if the pass interference and unsportsmanlike conduct calls don't make it so easy for Pittsburgh.

I understand what you mean, but I dont think its true. Example: Minnesota vs Seattle , in playoffs. Minnesota was about 98% favourites to win but they lost because Blair Walsh missed from less than 35 yards... I dont exatcly remember but I think there was about 10 seconds on the clock? A kick that should be 100% for NFL kickers. Same distance than the extra point basically. So in my mind, Vikings did nothing wrong as a team, but Blair Walsh just sucks too much :D

2:16 happened in a high school state championship game in Oregon several years ago. With his team down 4 points on the game's final play, the fastest receiver in the state burned the other team's secondary and found himself wide open with no one between himself and the endzone. All he needed to do to win the game was catch the pass, turn around, and run to the endzone--nobody could catch him. The QB found him and hit him with a perfectly targeted pass, BUT HE DROPPED THE BALL! 😧😧😧 (Just a week before, this losing team won their semifinal when their opponent went for a game-winning 2 after a late TD only for the pass to slip right through the receiver's hands.)

Doesn't fit for a "mistake" video, though. It was a great play by the defense and would have been a touchdown if it wasn't a great play by the defense. Even the coaching decision to pass the ball was strategically much better than running it, so that's not a mistake either.

That last ravens clip. What's worse to me was that they tried the same play again the next week and also blew it there

The Bungles screwed up thrice to lose that playoff game, you really should include them all.

Tbf on the first one, the thing that cost them the most time was the Vikings player hitting it out of Claypool's hand when he went to give it to the ref.

If you want to see some bad games , the seahawks back in the 80's, gained minus-6 yards for the entire game against the rams.

Going for two instead of overtime is a sign of weakness. They're not going to let you in there.

Shouldve added the Texans vs Saints opening MNF game. Came down to the wire. Brees through a hailmary where the reciever fell down untouched with a 2 seconds left in the game. Texans db came over to the reciever and touched him down. Giving the saints enough time to kick a field goal. If the db had left him alone the game wouldve ended and gone to OT. Texans released the DB the next day.

The Bengals fumble against the Steelers wasn't the game losing mistake, Vontaze Burfict and Adam Jones was the ones who costed the Bengals that game

I'll agree that the last play in and of itself would count as a mistake. Going for two if you're down one at the end of the game is not a mistake (you want to WIN, ideally!).

At 5:29 you can see why that pass was poorly thrown and therefore the guy couldn't catch it. It was good defensive play by the Steeler's TJ Watt. He made the pass go off course just a little.
