The most impressive thing for the Lion's play at 9:47 is that stafford threw that pass with his non-throwing arm dislocated. If you want additional footage from that play you can hear Stafford yelling "it's out! It's out! My shoulder's out" As he runs to the sideline after throwing the game winning touchdown. Amazing.

Here's an oddity. A number of years ago (I'm pretty sure it was Chargers and Raiders) the game was tied with little time left. A field goal was attempted by the Chargers but was missed. However, there was a false start by the offense. As a false start is pre-snap, the defense cannot decline the penalty. The penalty actually gave the Chargers another shot at the field goal from 5 yards further out and this time the field goal was good. How often does a penalty benefit the team that committed the penalty?!
@LOLMAN95382 жыл бұрын
That could be a future video idea...
@eolsunder2 жыл бұрын
true rarely happens but it does. But that usually is based on luck, not the penalty. If they had made the initial field goal the penalty wouldn't have benefited them as it wouldn't have counted. So just luck.
@bmwolgas2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the Lions won a game this way (against Atlanta maybe) in an overseas game.
@Naraku-no-Hana-WE2 жыл бұрын
There are quite a few nuances with penalties like this that can end up benefitting the wrong team. A few weeks ago Tampa Bay was driving at the end of the first half, threw a ball that was picked, but the interception didn't count because the defender interfered. However the return on the interception (even though it didn't count) ate time off the clock. Tampa Bay who had saved a timeout only had time left to attempt one hook and ladder play, rather than potentially two plays that could have setup a field goal. Special teams has a number of penalties that can potentially force a repunt/rekick with worse results despite the defense committing the foul. Some poor rookie punter got pasted twice in a row in Dallas earlier this year and was forced to punt a third time with a net loss of yards due to the way refs currently officiate running into vs roughing the punter.

He wasn't getting cute. It was 2nd and goal from the 1 but he only had 1 TO left with 28 seconds and NE was in goal line defense. If they stop Lynch he uses his last TO and then it's obvious pass plays on the final two downs/ If he throws incomplete on 2nd down he still has a TO left to run on 3rd without it being so obvious. I don't like the pass play call but throwing the ball was not that bad of a decision, he shouldn't have thrown it over the middle. He should have faked it to Lynch and have Wilson roll out and either run it in himself or toss it to a TE or throw it away.

In the bucs-saints clip at 10:15 it looked like the defender pushed him out of bounds. I thought illegal touching was only called if the receiver went out of bounds on their own, maybe I’m wrong I’m not a football rule junky
@bmasters19817 жыл бұрын
Nope-- illegal touching means that if you're the receiver and you go out of bounds, whether on your own or as a result of a force-out (why they let defenders force receivers OB and don't call it as interference, I have never understood), then it's illegal touching if you come back and catch it. By that rule, then, if a defender forces a receiver OB, then the pass would have to be an incompletion or a free interception, because the receiver cannot touch it after being OB.
@sportsandanime3156 жыл бұрын
It is legal for a defender to shove a receiver out of bounds because the QB still has the ball in his hands and was out of the pocket (the tackle box). If the QB was still in the pocket (between the tackles) then Illegal Contact would be called. But since the QB was outside the pocket, then Illegal Contact would be negated.

Funny I get recommended this after Washington’s game losing offside
8:36 - 10:00 isn’t it a penalty to go back on the field the next play after the trainers come out on the field to get you? Maybe I misheard that rule or it’s not a rule, but pls help me understand
@random-clips-j8w7 жыл бұрын
It's not in this video, but before the next play started (Culpepper was the QB on the field for the Lions) the Browns called a timeout, and Stafford was then allowed to come back into the game.
@aidanpowell91437 жыл бұрын
Mike Hazen ok thanks for clarifying.
@tonys42507 жыл бұрын
It's not a penalty to stay on the field after the refs call time out for an injury but you need to go off the field for one play or your team will be charged with a timeout but because the Lions were charged a time out Stafford can stay on the field for the next play.
@random-clips-j8w7 жыл бұрын
The Lions were charged a "4th timeout" because they didn't have any timeouts left. This meant that Stafford still would've had to sit out a play. But before they ran the next play, Cleveland ended up calling a timeout, and Stafford was then able to return. Culpepper was actually out on the field at QB before Cleveland called the timeout.

The Browns pass interference in the endzone call was a typical screw the Browns call. Everyone is fighting for the ball and this is never called on a Hail Mary unless very obvious. Nothing obvious here except it is obvious the refs wanted the Browns to lose.

The Seahawks had already lost the game when they decided to pass instead of run
@ringringbananarchy4 жыл бұрын
Fact: Marshawn Lynch was only 50% on runs of one yard or less that season, and was 1 for 5 on 1 yard goal line runs that season. 1 for 5. Everyone talking about how Lynch was a gimmie for the win doesn't know what they are talking about. Lynch had already been stuffed two of four times THAT GAME by the Pats on short yardage. Marshawn Lynch had a just over 40% success rate on short yardage goalline rushes for his career. Don't forget that the Seahawks earlier in that very game had to settle for a fieldgoal because Lynch was stuffed on a third and one from the 8 yard line.
@Easelgames4 жыл бұрын
@@ringringbananarchy true, but it was because the play before he had just busted out a long run, and had a lot of momentum. Not to mention I believe they still woulda had another down afterwords.. so you do the less risky play first (run) rather then a no look throw... (which is one of the most risky plays since you're throwing before you even see them..)

Someone want to explain how any body could jump off sides at 2:42 it's literally a qb kneel on the 1 yard line
@dugferd22666 жыл бұрын
The qb couldn't simple kneel, because the qb would have taken possession from the center on or behind the goal line. He had to move the ball forward so that it was completely out of the end zone. If he had knelt and any part of the ball where he knelt was in contact with the imaginary vertical plane of the goal line, then it would have been a safety. Knowing that the QB had to try to advance the ball, the defense tried to anticipate the snap, to perhaps get the safety or to force a fumble on the exchange from center. It was their only chance to win.

Austin Stein Hence why Rodgers' helmet was half across his face? Idk man. Sure, it was a close one, but you can't review penalties anyways. A call is a call. To me, I honestly believe that it was a face mask, but it's too close to call. I guess that since his helmet was legit halfway through his face, they got a face mask call, Sure, it gave the Packers a chance, but shame on the Lions for playing a lateral defense and not a Hail Mary defense, LMAO.
