We don't talk enough about how the Steelers' loss to the Chargers the following week in the AFC Championship was one of the biggest upsets in playoff history. Nobody was giving San Diego a shot that day, especially after how sloppy they looked against Miami in the divisional round, and after Pittsburgh destroyed Cleveland on this day

It really is amazing how Barry Foster was able to turn his career around. Had a great game here. Thought he was gonna be done for good after that game he had against the 49ers where he just forgot to pick up the ball on the kickoff in what had to be one of the biggest special teams gaffes of all-time; he wound up in Chuck Noll's dog house after that. The on screen board is ubiquitous now. And it's better. But there's times where there's too much stuff on screen. Watching in the 90s (I don't have a frame of reference before then) seemed like a more engaged experience. You had to pay attention to each score and keep track. The announce team had to not only tie all pertinent stats and storylines together, but also be informative and nail the play by play. NFL on NBC was GOAT tier in the 90s.

Going into the 1995 season, the Browns had the 7th best odds of winning the super bowl for that season. Pundits predicted them to make the playoffs and had the same core from this game. At the time of Models announcement, the team was around .500 with a legit shot of making the postseason. After news of the announcement broke, the team fell apart and finished 5-11. I'm convinced with Belichick as coach and that level of talent had Model kept the team in town, they would've made the playoffs in 1995. After that season, who knows what would've happened.

Re: Intro NBC Sports sure loved using Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Black Moon" for their game intros. They used it at least 4 times between 1992 and 1995 (Check the intro to game 4 in '93 between the Bulls and Knicks). Probably because it sounds so much like Queen's "We Will Rock You," (A sports arena mega-staple) but epic nonetheless with Marv Albert's narration.

Bill Cowher inherited a team that had so much potential in 1992 when he succeeded Chuck Noll. Near the end of 1991, Noll even admitted that this was a Super Bowl team, but he was burned out and decided to walk away…….he wasn’t far off in his admission. Dawson, Lake, Woodson, Lloyd, John Jackson, Strelczyk, Eric Green, Foster, Mills…….all carryovers from the Noll era. Only Foster and Green missed out on Super Bowl XXX.
