That 2008 Steelers defense needs to be mentioned more often among the greatest defenses of all-time. They finished 1st in points, total yards, passing yards, and red zone percentage. They also finished 2nd in sacks and rushing yards.

Such a painful game as a Ravens fan. Two close losses to that Steelers team earlier in the campaign and another in the biggest spot. Truth be told, even if that Ravens squad had somehow got past Pittsburgh, they weren’t winning the Super Bowl. They were too flawed on offense and too banged up on D. Still, it was a fun season overall. One of the most violent games I’ve ever seen too. Monster hits on both sides.

Ditto. Getting swept in 3 games in one season drove me nuts at the time.

two of the greatest defense of all time going at it. The AFC teams caught a break too thanks to Brady being out for the year here. If Brady was healthy, Either Pittsburgh or Baltimore would've had to come to New England and we know Pittsburgh can't beat the Patriots no matter how great their defense is.
@Riles315214 күн бұрын
Baltimore CERTAINLY could have gone to New England and ended Brady's season. They did twice (2010 and 2013) and should have in 2012 if Evans comes down with the TD catch right in his hands late in that game, followed by the missed FG to tie the game. During that era, Baltimore seemed to have the Patriots number. Patriots had Pittsburgh's number. Chargers and Patriots had Colts number. Pittsburgh sort of had Baltimore's number. Styles make fights.

This is the equivalent to black and white NFL footage. You can’t play like this anymore which is wild but warranted.. Ryan Clark is head hunting like crazy. CTE is going to be a result for a percentage of NFL players no matter what dunce cap you put on their helmet. I think the NFL is also trying to filter out the talented, criminally insane, homicidal maniacs who slip into the fold (the ones we hear about. Imagine the stuff that doesn’t see the light of day). You can’t filter phenomenons or outliers. Less aggression isn’t going to save anyone. RC isn’t generational. Troy and Ed are which is why they are all time greats.
