I live in the Seattle area and I drafted Sean Alexander in the first round of my workplace fantasy league. He was barely scoring any points the first 3 games, then he had this breakout game. What the real narrative was is this game was the return from holdout for LT Walter Jones and that was the key for Alexander's entire career. He eventually won his MVP by rushing on the left side of the OL behind LT Walter Jones, LG Steve Hutchinson, and C Robbie Tobeck (his MVP year). Seahawk's OL in the Holmgren era was elite.

This was the game after Moss bumped the meter maid and everyone was just hating on him all week from national media, local media, and fans. Always defiant, I think moss wanted to show everyone and instead of having his best game ever it just snowballed into what I consider his worst game in his first tenure with the Vikings. Also, who knew Moss's lateral to Moe Williams would be a precursor to their great play against Denver?

I’d have to double check but I think Shaun Alexander set a record for touchdowns scored in one half; and if Reggie Tongue is pushed out of bounds on his pick six, Alexander could’ve added a sixth touchdown in the first half perhaps. Alexander had an excellent offensive line to work with and wasn’t the same after Steve Hutchison left, but when I look back at it, he was a really good running back in the early to mid 2000’s. In particular he scored more rushing touchdowns and put up more rushing yards than most running backs are likely to put up in their careers now with how many teams have running backs by committee, and rush a bit less often.

SHAUN ALEXANDER#37 SHOULD BE IN THE NFL HALL OF FAME ..
@jimnfl713422 күн бұрын
nope, way too short of a career.
@davidroberts728222 күн бұрын
Yeah, he finished with a little over 9,000 career rushing yards before a diminished, less-effective, particularly after Hutchinson left O-line, increasingly aging team and Holmgren's refusal to try and find a legitimate successor for Hasselback and the all-too-common injuries derailed Shaun Alexander's chances at Canton. If he had had maybe 1-2 more Pro Bowl-caliber seasons, he might be have a chance but not where he stands now. FWIW, Alexander's great is a bit of microcosm of Ezekiel Elliott close to the past decade: he's had some really great seasons his first 3-4 years, then his O-lines began less effective and dominant and then nagging, persistent injuries slowly sapped his career momentum to where a very good, multi-purpose RB who appears to be HOF-lock ends up having a very good career but he's a couple of steps out of reach for getting into Canton one day like Derrick Henry and if he has 2-3 more Pro Bowl seasons, Saquon Barkley. Elliott's overall career numbers are very similar to Alexander's as well as his career arc.
@fortynights151321 күн бұрын
@@davidroberts7282One thing Alexander can say that Elliott probably won’t be able to is that he rushed for 100 touchdowns. But yeah, a little more longevity and Shaun Alexander could have been a Hall of Famer by consensus.
