Oh god forbid video games to have their own artstyles and not just oversaturated photorealism. Unbound had way better visual than 2015 technically, the only edge that 2015 had is that it went with a night-only photorealistic artstlye, which is way easier to make pretty graphics since the draw distance isn't have to be that huge compared to the last 3 titles. And btw people play video games not just using them for screenshots and 2015's handling and physics sucks hard lmao.

This game is like the equivalent to AC Unity in Assassin's Creed. Games so ahead of their time on multiple fronts, that the studios haven't been able to recapture or surpass it since. Whether it was a disastrous release, bad mechanics or poor story, both games had wasted potential, but they also still hold the blueprint that could lead to the greatest game of their franchises.

i played it this year on a 1650 on medium-high and it was still amazing. way better than it was when i used to play on X1. this is my favorite game of the series so far because it clearly focused on car culture. the handling was a 50/50 for me. but i felt like the cars were truly underground racing machines. rip ghost and criterion tho.

Can we all agree that the visuals, art direction, views, atmosphere and overall vibe of this game is the best? It's so beautiful to cruise around and soak in the vibe. Seeing the lights and the city off in the distance. No other AAA racing games IMO after this give the same atmosphere kudos to the devs for that shame how bad the physics were, lack of customization for some cars, and the stupid always online requirement. I wish there was another NFS, Forza Horizon, Crew or whatever title would come out that has this similar art direction or vibe be it night or day time. NFS Heat's map was close but it lacked so much detail compared to this.

I believe that it was so special because they used the frostbite engine with its photo realistic graphics. No other engine, except for maybe Crysis engine has those visuals, and those engines are quite old now and probably has a lot of constraints which is why no other developer is using that for racing games anymore

@@user-cb1ln8vc8d they don't dont understeer bad when you set them up, theres an optimum corner speed, like there is with areal car. You cant hog into corners at 130 like an idiot, 80 is about the sweet spot. There IS point where if you dip below 50 they get a boat load of front end traction, but I believe the thing that causes most people problems is that the steering return is a little slow, so you have to manually straighten the steering after corners, like a spin tires game, and I think that fucks a lot of people up. I'd like to try one of my setups with a wheel and see how that does, cuz the steering rate with a controller IS a little wonky, but once you get the hang of it and get it figured out, it's not really that bad at all. Just becomes another nuance. I dont think the physics are bad, I MUCH prefer them to next 3 games cuz they dont feel like scripted plastic bullshit. At least the car actually dynamically reacts to the road surface and curbs and things, instead of just "hit box touched a curb, play a scripted car bounce animation so it LOOKS like something happens", its "OH SHIT! OH FUCK! HOLY GODDAMN THERES A CURB THERE!" and your shit gets a squirrelly. Or you come over a Crest too fast the car gets a little bouncy and starts to fish tail cuz the idiot that set it up put way too much camber on their shit and made the suspension too stiff. I've seen people bitch about how the game handles hill tops and it's like, my guy, if you took a 900hp 64 mustang over the top a hill at 170mph in real life, it would bounce when it hits the fuckin ground too

You could tune the cars to steer more or less or to be more or less sensitive to your controls, and some cars steered more or less than others (the Lancer Evo for example steers a lot less than the Nissan not-350Z), but either way it's at least way better than whatever crack Heat and Unbound smoke with making the cars barely steer at all if you go over 100km/h. Like god damn as someone that went from UG2 to Heat to Unbound to 2015, 2015 feels like a breath of fresh air after those two games and how they literally FORCE you to use their horrible drifting mechanics (accelerate to drift? Really?).

this is powered by Frosbite engine. same engine used by BFV, this is a good example of better lighting, afaik, they are using fixed static lighting and mostly the whole time is night only which is a good moment to hide the major details so it doesn't strain a lot of your GPU, but the only major weakness in frosbite are character facial animation, which is why they using a mix of live-action actor instead of render them in 3d, then add with 3d models of our car or so. so far, this is the best graphics i've ever seen in all of nfs franchise.

The online only thing is really annoying and is the cause of most of my problems with the game, although I have similar small complaints about the mini map and gameplay map design as well. For starters, the mini map should have a north point or some kind of compass feature so I know what direction I'm going in, really annoying when I'm trying to orientate myself after a crash in free roam or trying to find something without a way point. Secondly, there should be a zoom out option during freedom and racing so I don't have to pull up the big map all the time. My list of complaints of the actual map is small and they're really more like suggestions but first, they should've utilized the empty areas more. For example the top half of Franklin Terrace I think it's called, or the downtown area of Ventura Bay. The biggest part of the city with all of its lit up and towering sky scrapers and possible parking garages that could be the perfect place for photo shoots, but you can only drive through on the highway with no actual way of properly going through the main city. Very annoying, as it should be the main attraction of the map.

It's kinda sad the way racing games are going nowadays, they feel soulless It's not that this game is the best ever, far from it, however, I can feel the love and passion behind it, it's weirdly gone nowadays

NFS 2015 is still the best looking NFS game and quite honestly its one of the best looking games of ALL TIME. What they did with this game the permanent night setting combined with the lightning/rain made it perfect. Possibly best looking rasterized game ever.
