some very interesting things about this game after playing it recently - if your internet is bad, you get unlimited nitrous (basically all the time if your aussie) - the AI ruberbands in every single mode, including the time trials. making it so you HAVE to sandbag or else deal with an impossible time to beat - You unlock a prestige mode after beating the main story, and the difficulty spike is attrocious. you could have a max upgraded ferrari F40 with unlimited nitrous and still struggle to hit the bronze star, let alone gold which is often 30+ seconds faster. Most people in the NFS community highly recomend certain builds and call prestige mode a bunch of crap for a reason. - cops are really so bad it takes 8~ minutes to reach heat 4 (never been chased long enough to reach max heat) where they *might* send 2 or 3 cars after you with some pathetic roadblocks. but most of the time it will be one lonely officer, who may even run away from you (scary job i know)

NFS 2015 was interesting one for my experience. Like they had so many good ideas on paper but it either didn't work or was poorly done. Plus it didn't help the fact that Ghost was still a small studio after Rivals. While it was true that Ghost Games developed Rivals, you're forgetting that Criterion was the main developers of Rivals and Ghost were the co-developers. Stepping that aside, with how this game turned out, it proves that Criterion should've continued to be the main developers of NFS and depending what happens with Ghost, they can continue being the co-developers or have them work on a different game that isn't racing related.

With regards to the excessive wetness of everything, it's a symptom of frostbite. Battlefield 4 drowned everything in water and shiny surfaces to make it look next gen, and Rivals is guilty of that too, the car is always wet, even in the desert and the rest of the map can get pretty shiny and wet too. 2015 just took it way too far with it tho.

I dunno. 2015 is one of my most favorite NFS games and I find that and the rest of the modern NFS games from 2010 and onwards to play very well due to how very arcadey they felt. They all had brought back what was missing in the arcade racing genres these days when you had Forza, GT, or Forza Horizon dominating the console racing genres; an easy handling racing game with drifting during races. It's something I really love about these games more than the Black Box era NFS games where MW05 was very set on grip handling only which I was not really a fan of. Maybe it's because my first NFS game was MW12 back in 2020, but the more I have played the Black Box games, the more I wanted to play the modern games. Nowadays, I have grown to like HP2 and UG1&2, but MW05 and Carbon just don't really do it for me and I find NFS2 and 3 to play better, imo.

This was absolutely the perfect NFS for me, and among Ghost's efforts (and really any NFS because I don't play "classic" games really), it's the only game I go back and play. I've beaten 2015's campaign a half dozen times and it never gets old. I appreciate the fact that, cheesy or not, the story is - racers wanna race - that's all a NFS really needs to be to be perfectly honest. Manu and Amy had enough charm to carry the rest of the group, but it was just the atmosphere, the city...but a lot of the little things that even Heat which I admit was a better racing game didn't do. 2015 made you feel like you were in this world racing. Each car feels UNIQUE. I think, while the physics are flawed a lot of people wrongly expected to be able to apply identical strategies to each of their cars and they cannot. Just like real cars you had to figure out how to get the most out of each. The lighting and vibe of the game was just so perfect. The only issues I think I shared with you are the cops who, you could argue for story reasons were just kind of lazy/don't get paid enough to chase around tuner racers, and the always online. So often the game would say it was going down for maintenance only to kick me out but then be immediately accessible. Randomly kicking me out of the game is exactly why always online shouldn't be a thing. Especially since Ghost no longer exists to remove these problems. It hurts my heart that one day this game will go offline and become unplayable.

An entry far from being perfect, but I haven't experienced such fun, playing a NFS game, since Carbon. It's difficult to explain why I like it so much but it was an instant blast from the start. The atmosphere is unique, the graphics are great, the music selection is on point (especially the electronic-ambient tracks that play in garage), the races with other players and IA bringing some chaos within; I even liked the handling (I play with the drift set up). However towards the end I personally would give the 2 games after it (especially heat) more credit because imo a lot of issues 2015 has and payback had were improved upon immensely in heat (cops, risk/reward, upgrading system, handling etc). if I had to rank the last 4 NFS games personally my ranking would be Heat > Rivals > 2015 > Payback (i think it fixed a lot of issues in 2015 but brought a butt load of brand new ones too) I may not agree with everything but I did enjoy the video n look forward to seeing more from you :)

I still love this game. As a longtime player with at least a 1500 hours, mostly on drift cruising and touge events, I only wish the map was bigger and a way to turn off the AI. The mechanics have never bothered me; i actually found them easy to understand and feel the "weight and balance" of my car. I think the biggest thing everyone gets hung up on is the tuning aspect of this game. Your parts tuning and stance tuning in visual customization play a HUGE role in the handling of your car. I enjoyed your point of view! At the end, I played this game chilling, it wasn't the thrill of HP 2010 or Rivals. It was enjoyable, especially with playing with my own musics. Atmosphere is very relaxing, real cutscenes are... fun and good vibe... Also damn your car in the cutscenes Yeah, it was fun. But the inconsistent handling damn. And the game was so easy, not a sweat At the end, Heat is so good at everything and yet, they forget to build a freaking campaign

Contrary to belief, NFS 2015 is an excellent game. The physics aren’t bad once you understand how the game handles. Drifting is the best it’s been to date and fun. Grip handling is a fun challenge as you actually have to break to turn, just like gran turismo for example. As your car gets faster you have to make more calculated decisions of when to break and turn. The story is just like something you’d expect out of the black box era of NFS which I love, while also featuring celebrities like Ken Block (RIP). This game takes you back to the theme of Underground and Carbon night racing. The map has a solid design with tight turns, open roads, and long highways; making the map feel alive and larger than what it has to offer. Canyons somewhat make a return since last seen in Carbon. The customization is solid and the wrap editor adds a new layer to the game creating endless possibilities. The music in this game is good and reminds me of music direction in Carbon while also featuring music from past NFS games like the classics, MW, Carbon, and Pro Street. However, songs are locked to certain activities which is very unfortunate as there are a lot of great tracks in this game. Most importantly NFS 2015 has the best multiplayer system to date. You’re always cursing with players in a lobby alongside AI that you can race at any time. It’s 2023 and I will still have a full lobby of players that often start races for you to join or will join your races when you request to race with players. There’s also a feature for strictly multiplayer racing that is like a championship which always has active lobbies and awards more money. Can’t forget drag races are back. You can win Eddie’s car from undergound which is awesome to see. Need for Speed 2015 just did so many things right. It was a game the community from the Underground-Carbon era wanted so badly and it delivered. There are a lot of things that this game could’ve improved on, and I wished they added more to it, but regardless, it’s an instant classic for me.

I agree 100% about the customisation. It's nice to have, no question. But many people always act as if it's the most important thing in the whole game. (Not only NFS, but actually all racing games). For me, the most important thing about a game like NFS is the gameplay and the handling. And that's where the last few installments have failed for me, which is why I'm also rather cautious about the new one...

so much that even Trail Out, a game that focuses on Flatout/Wreckfest destruction had one, and even the upcoming "Wreckcreation" game had such feature too despite being a vehicular combat focused racer from ground up

This game was one of many "style over substance" experiences I've had. The game looks so beautiful that anyone who doesn't know better would believe you if you told them it was a ps5 game. The customization is awesome by modern standards, the atmosphere is incredible. But then there's the characters trying way too hard to look chill, the lazy as all hell cops, and the handling, which works, until it doesn't.

One thing you forgot to mention is that most of the cars from 2015 that is featured in later NFS games has the same body kit options and rarely (if not, never) get new kits. And the only cars that do are the BMWs and they get M Performance parts. Not to mention despite Ghost Games having the capability to add their own body kits (without running into any licensing issues) they still decided to recycle old cars and kits without adding any new ones despite the real life aftermarket support for the cars in 2015.

I put 200 hours into this game when it came out on pc. I remember being so disappointed by the handling system and the blatant unbalanced 911 RSR on every speed list frustrated me to no end. I genuinely wanted to love this game, I had saved up all of my part time savings just to get this game. Not mention the plethora of optimisation issues, even though my pc was pretty beefy back in 2016. The final nail in the coffin for me was the awful amount of shrill trap music, thank god they retrofitted the game with older osts from games prior. All in all it left me a bitter taste in my mouth.

Let's be clear, customization was absolutely a huge feature. There is a not-so-small community of players that pretty much sit all day in the garage making the perfect build and wrap. This continues to be the case with newer titles as well. There just isn't much staying power for a nfs game or really any racing game if it doesn't let you build cars like nfs can at least for me.

I personally enjoyed NFS 2015 more than Heat. With night/ dawn the only time that the game sets in, the graphics & weathering are well matched to the "underground" vibe of the game. I very much prefer the visuals in 2015 than Heat. The story is corny at times, but at the same time it hearts back to the current car culture, rather than trying to create some story that doesn't really have anything to do with it. It's the only Need For Speed that's really gone into real world car culture, and there's a relatability to it. The cool easter egg of the game that I love is that some of the NPCs refers to real life people ( Misha Charoudin, a KZbinr at the Nürburgring, and the Photographer Larry Chen and his personal Nissan 240Z. In fact Larry Chen is the Photographer that took that final photo of the game ) Car customization was limited for european sportscars, but really good for the tuner cars and the game was developed to really capture the tuning scene. Yes, there were a lot of things to work on, I find the handling a bit weird once your car is at 80% max power, and the cops don't do anything in the game. There was a lot of improvement from 2015 to Heat that I appreciate, but I wished there was another game that had the improvement from Heat, but still captures the car culture like NFS 2015 did. 2015 had a really cool vibe that I will come back to. It's a flawed game, but one that I had enjoyed.

Finally someone mentioned that since nfs 2015 the core game didn't change. It also bothered me till this day. Since this nfs every other nfs didn't feel unique on their own because it's still like the same game. Is it maybe due to the always same engine they are using since nfs rivals or EA not giving the studios enough time to really create something new? Idk but it's really time for a really new and unique game.

The story wasn't interesting or as cool as say NFS MW 2005 or Carbon, the car balancing was absurd, and the OST was meh. Only thing NFS 2015 got right for me was the atmosphere of a Underground successor. Now I hope NFS Unbound can live up to it's own Underground like atmosphere, setting, and tone it's building up. I'll be even more impressed if Unbound can surpass Midnight Club 2 in terms of street racing atmosphere and tone. 15+ years later and still no game has ever given me that dark, mysterious yet exciting feel like MC2 did. Great video man! :)
