Funniest thing is that "TouchID" is an Apple trademark (both the name and the symbol). There is no way on Earth that Apple would alllow someone else to use their trademarks let alone someone that isn't even using an Apple OS.

I feel bad for the ouya when people compare it to stuff like this. None of the shitty consoles that came after it have even come close to being as successful as the ouya. It sold between 100,000-200,000 units. That's better than a lot of those failed 90's consoles from much larger companies. The Amico for comparison, if it had actually come out, at it's peak buzz period would have been lucky to sell 5-6k units judging by pre-order numbers and how well those 4 packs of fake games sold. As you said, not even in the same universe as the Ouya.

Ouya was misguided and fell for their own hype, but as far as a grassroots startup game console, they are the best case scenario one could ever hope for. They got a product out with an online store, big name publishers, retail presence, and mainstream advertising.

Polium is 100% a huge scam. The "best" case scenario (notice I am putting quotation marks around the word "best") where people still get SCAMMED to the highest degree is this Polium crap gets released and you end up with games like Axie Infinity (a game that does NOT need 8K tech, that game could easily run on a cheap $50 smartphone from Walgreens). Axie Infinity is pretty much bootleg Pokemon (mixed with bootleg Chao from Sonic Adventure which all got stomped on and turned into blobs) where NFTs and Crypto gambling are the main focus where most people who play Axie Infinity end up losing TONS of their real money (especially now as the game is indeed falling apart... which leads me to say that there is no way in hell they can predict a game line up for 2024 because these NFT / Crypto games have an extremely short life span and tend to fall apart and crash pretty hard and fast). It's basically a "cute" form of gambling where most people will go broke and tons of their real money vanishes. They will most likely put together "exclusive games" which are just crappy cheap menu crap like the NFT / Crypto game Lucky Block (which doesn't really qualify as a game, despite being voted the # 1 NFT / Crypto game of 2022 so far). Now the worst case scenario (and this will sadly most likely happen) they will get people to buy that Polium app that comes out before the console and they run away after they get a certain amount of money and people's personal info like credit cards, bank account info, etc, "mysteriously" get taken and misused.

Bullish on NFT's? Bullish on crypto as a whole. It seems like every few weeks to a month we get another crash to a new low. By 2024 the whole crypto scheme may well and truly have reached it's final crescendo. Also, you know it's a scam because the claimed 8k120 isn't even capable to be done on the highest of the high end PC right now. We're just barely doing 4k at 60 fps consistently on new AAA titles and that's only if you are purchasing a bare minimum $500 dollar GPU. Even the current 3090 ti can barely even run 8k at 30 fps and that's being super kind to it, most games just crash if you try 8k. So, do these numb nuts have a time machine so they can go into the future and bring back some future tech? No? Well, it almost seems like a scam or something. That or the games it will run will be super undemanding mobile style games that are nothing but a shell for that particular developers crypto scam. God, this shit gives me headaches. An RTX 3090 ti, a $2000 dollar GPU, is lucky if it can run anything outside of very undemanding indie titles at 8k30. AAA games literally barely work at 8k, they usually crash to desktop or run well under 30fps. We aren't even close to gaming at 8k (we only just now have uber high end GPU's doing higher than 4k60 on AAA's) and these doofuses are going to have a working prototype in 3 months despite the fact that the technology simply doesn't exist to do the things they claim. There's a reason they removed that claim from the website now. Kind of gave away their hand if you have even a cursory knowledge of technology. That's not a PS4 controller, that's a cheap generic Chinese knock-off of a PS3 controller. Any time I look on Amazon for any PS3 game to add to my collection I get a hundred listings of these first before I reach the thing I'm searching for. They just threw one of those on top of what looks like a bento lunchbox, photoshopped everything to make it look like anything other than what it is, and then hope the pre-order money pours in.

I'm much happier emulating everything up to PS1 / N64 on my phone with a USB-C gamepad, and emulating PS2, PS3, PC and GameCube etc on my laptop. Xbox for modern games I can't find anywhere else.

Any console that dips into the 90s by having the D-pad (and only the D-pad) parallel to the buttons is an automatic disqualification, regardless of whatever else might be wrong with it. The thumb rests naturally on the upper position, so that's where you want the primary control (the left analog stick) to be situated. The only reason we sometimes get the analog stick on the bottom is because that was the Dualshock design, because it was the only place Sony could fit analog sticks on a preexisting digital pad, and now Sony are stuck with that design. Not even Nintendo still pretends this is a good idea.

Nintendo tried to change things with the Wii U for the better! They had both analogs on top for better gameplay with games that use both analog sticks. It's a shame people disliked it and it's even worse that alot of people wish that nintendo would change to having A on the bottom instead of the same layout they've been using for 31 years!

They knew the left analog stick needed to be at the top, and yet they were absolutely _married_ to symmetrical design. It's the reason why it took them so long to throw in the towel and admit that the analog-stick-parallel-with-buttons design was the best thing for users' hands.
