I can’t believe you guys are going to make T-shirts based on my “10% Club” label! I’m stoked! I never thought it would get this much traction. I prefer the regular T-shirts as they have a more universal appeal, and are more flattering on us older (and rounder) ladies. I have an idea for the T-shirts. Instead of the “10% Club”, make it the “18/10% Club” and have a picture of a modernistic stainless steel place setting on the front and SYWTGF on the back. Logan Paul is a major tool. I saw his videos in Japan, especially the one in Aokigahara Forest. I was shocked, horrified and (as an American) embarrassed. I don’t blame the Japanese for kicking that disrespectful and insensitive jerk out of Japan. Then he pulls this pyramid scheme crap. That guy needs to be kicked off all of the internet platforms. I would love for you to do some food travel videos. Japan is beautiful any time of the year. The cherry blossom season in the spring is beautiful, but the fall colors are equally beautiful and without the crowds. Check out the Abroad in Japan KZbin channel for some ideas on places to go and food to check out. Since you plan to be in Southern California soon, you may want to travel inland to Bakersfield. They have a large Basque community and a well known, family-run Basque restaurant you might want to check out. Check out Gabriel Iglesias’ “Fluffy Food Adventures” on Amazon Prime (the Bakersfield episode) for the name of the restaurant.

Just a quick clarification for a conversation near the end of the episode: Japan's cherry blossom season is Spring - specifically around early April. Fall in Japan is when the ginko (Japanese maple) trees are a brilliant orange/red, which is why Japan is so proud of their very distinct 4 seasons (the bright pink of the cherry blossoms in Spring, the vibrant green in Summer, the deep red ginko trees in Fall, and the pure white snowcap in Winter) as opposed to elsewhere in the world where Spring and Fall tend to just be "extended or early Summer" or "extended or early Winter".

Also, fun trivia about cherry blossom season, they tend to be in full bloom in early April and have a very brief (usually only 1-2 week) bloom period, resulting in a local connection to "the beauty of impermanence". The month April where this happens is called "Shigatsu" (pronounced like "she got sue") written as fourth (shi) moon (gatsu). However, "shigatsu" is a homonym (same pronunciation) as death (shi) gatsu (moon), further cementing the "impermanence" imagery of the cherry blossom.

I’m a little late to the party. I started going back through the podcasts in order from the beginning. The cherry blossoms are from late March to late April (if you are way up north), but also depends on where you are going. They will bloom earlier in the warmer southern areas, and bloom later up in the northern areas. Depending on where you go in Japan, it would be good to look up when they typically are blooming, but assuming you’re sticking to the major cities most people visit (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto), late March to early April is your best bet.

I may be mistaken, but I think the red leaves in fall are more associated with maple trees, or “kaede” in Japanese. Ginkgo trees are mostly yellow, but are more famous for their…unpleasant scent.
