How can you use the red dot finder at night when you can't see to line the circles up in the dark?

Im pretty sure it lights up

My advice for people is Have patience in your setup. Don't get frustrated with it. Learn to Enjoy the challenge of figuring out how it works. Don't give up. My only complaint on the telescope is the red dot finder mounting. The mount has no locking screw for the dove tail. Seems it would be easy to knock it out of accuracy with little to no effort as it just wiggles in place to install. Also even though the setup is easy the instructions could be more descriptive and full of examples and details.

We just got this telescope for Christmas. When we look through it we can't see anything. We took off the dust cap and everything but it's still just a black image. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest trying it during the day, looking at distant trees or buildings to familiarize yourself with how the telescope functions. Here's my review of the basic functions kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3_ImKCmibF1hLM.

is it normal for this type of tele to show an inverted image? looked like the tree was upside down
@mbioman Жыл бұрын
Yes. An inverted image is normal for optical telescopes. You can get a prism to revert the image if doing terrestrial viewing.

So why do we see the black circle when view ....no point in trying to take pictures with a black blob in the middle ....any help would be great as I'm trying to use this tonight for the great conjunction... Thanks.

Is it in focus? If the image looks great in the eyepiece, but then there seems to be an obstruction when using the phone, try moving the phone further away from the eyepiece and make sure the phone is not tilted.

She meant the blob at 1:52 Is there a way to keep that from showing up?

How do you turn on the red dot finder? I can't see anything to press
@mbioman2 жыл бұрын
There is a red switch on the back of the red dot finder. Just flip the switch.

Did you 3D print that dobsonian mount? This would be a fun little dob to play with.
@mbioman4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I did. Here's the link to the mount: www.thingiverse.com/thing:4618897

I don't have a 3D printer how can I still get a dobsonian mount?
@mbioman4 жыл бұрын
@@phamonjr If you're in the Los Angeles area I could probably sell you the printed parts. Otherwise your best bet is to see if a local print service is available.

@@mbioman I live in Maryland I would be willing to pay for it and shipping if you could I don't know if anyone does that around here

I'd suggest finding a local source: all3dp.com/2/3d-printing-service-near-me/. Shipping the large print is expensive on top of the material costs.

Ok so I just got the telescope for my kids, I'm new to all of this, but I did notice that when you were looking at the tree, the image looked upside down., is that normal? Mine was doing the same thing
@mbioman3 жыл бұрын
Yes this is normal for a Newtonian telescope. The image is upside down. For terrestrial viewing, an erecting prism can adjust the image, but for astronomical viewing inverted views are the norm.

Wouldn’t the position of the content of the red dot change based on where you are looking
@mbioman4 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. The red dot does change relative to the viewer's perspective, but is centered/stable if aligned with the two black circles. When all three are properly aligned the red dot points reasonably accurately.
