Nice shots. What did you use to hold the solar filter film in? Looks like some sort of cap that fits the end of the scope, but when i go to the amazon link i only see the film itself, no end cap fitting for the scope.

I would not spend $15 on a phone mount. My galaxy s5 shows the moon as an overexposed, out of focus blob with no way to focus the phone manually. Especially when i paid $9.99 for the telescope at Goodwill. Instead, i bought an adapter for my Nikon. Much better than an entry level astro cam as looking at skycap software, it said the 64 bit version doesnt support cheap cameras like the Svbony line. No wonder Amazon has hi return rate on them.

Basic question, how are you supposed to use the finder? Do you really have to get under it and look through even though the viewing angle is nice and easy looking down through the 90 degree eye piece? Seems hard to place the scope comfortably.
@mbioman
@mbioman 6 ай бұрын
Yes. The finder scope is a straight view. This is pretty typical on astronomical telescopes. There are angled finders if the original is too cumbersome.

Nice review! Are you able to see ring separation when viewing Saturn with this little scope?
@mbioman
@mbioman 6 ай бұрын
Thank you. Visually, the rings of Saturn are visibly separated from the planet. This separation was easier to see in past years when Saturn’s rings were tilted from our Earth perspective. The Cassini division can be identified when seeing is good and is easier to identify using a camera attached to the scope.

If you have the lens cap on, you should see nothing. As for seeing just light that you cant focus, are you using the barlow? I was having the same problem. I was putting it on top of the eyepieces (upside down) and looking through the barlow. Oops.

I tried to use a leftover servo connector, but it didn't work even after adding a servo. What should I do?
@mbioman
@mbioman Жыл бұрын
Check to make sure the servo plug has power with a multimeter. Make sure the servo works . Verify the transmitter is properly programmed to control the extra servo connector. Perhaps the rx is damaged - some of the cheap knock-offs don't seem to function as well or as expected.

Also from the files (and the sound) I can see that this is a cylindrical bore, so this is really much more like a clarinet (or xaphoon) than a saxophone so it doesn't overblow to an octave, but rather to a twelfth, correct?

Which coreless motor you use and what is the thrust of this motor

I used a 7mm coreless motor. The thrust really depends on the propeller+motor combination. I used 2.5" or 65mm props with the 7mm motor. I never measured the thrust.

I didn't do any post processing for the mouthpiece. Whether it is needed depends on printer settings. If supports or a brim/raft were used, they will need to be removed.

For 3DP sax mouthpieces I always sand down the face and table to get a flat surface using high grit sand paper like 400. Be careful not to change the shape or angle of the tip opening, just enough to get rid of the layer lines

What is the shape of the primary mirror? If it's spherical, it's probably going to have severe spherical aberrations at that focal ratio. Does the mirror have the center etched (a spherical mirror doesn't need this for collimation)?

Hi, someone asked me a question that I cannot answer. What is the limiting magnitude of this scope? Could you please tell me the answer so I can relay it to him? Thank you! 😊
@mbioman
@mbioman Жыл бұрын
The limiting magnitude is somewhere between 10.7 and 11.6. It's generally a function of the telescope's aperture. In this case that is 60mm.

@ravenshadowz2343: The maximum USEABLE magnification of ANY telescope is equal to twice the aperture in mm. This has an aperture of 60mm so the maximum magnification you can use is about 120X. You can magnify more if you use a more powerful eyepiece but it will just be blurred.

Has anyone tried printing with a pla carbon fiber blend yet? I use it for most of my musical prints and was wondering if there was an improvement in sound quality. And has anyone tried different fill patterns? I usually use lines/rectilinear to increase sound and at about 20%. Anyone play with those settings? Just curious.
