Not that many photographs of No134 in action in South Africa have come to our attention over the years, and videos even less so. We are therefore indebted to Richard Greenwood for sending us, the group currently restoring NG15 №134 back to working order, this selection of clips. They were taken whilst on a trip to South and he has kindly given us permission to share them with you here - the copyright remains with Richard.
The loco to be seen in the first section is №19. №134 and №135 are then seen in later clips.
These clips are from a cine film and so I’m afraid that other than the sound of the projector there’s no sound recording from the time.
Some of the locations are indicated by running-in boards / station signs etc and the turning triangle is suspected to be that at Misgund. The year the shots were take has yet to be established.
Whilst its appearance will differ slightly, as of early 2022 the sight (and sounds) of №134 working in earnest will soon be available again, this time not in South Africa but in North Wales: Follow us on www.NG15-134.co.uk and Facebook for more details.
