$1.50 per pay per view when the UFC sell 1+million pay per views he’s making $1,500,000 just on that alone. Not to mention show and win money plus outside endorsements. Assuming $500,000 show and $500,000 win. He’s bringing in $2,500,000 not counting outside endorsements for 12 weeks of hard training to prepare for 1-5 rounds of fighting. That’s great money… but I do see the argument where these guys want to make double that because of how tough this professional is on their body and minds.
@MMABoutsOfficial
@MMABoutsOfficial Жыл бұрын
That's a lot of dough indeed, but his main issue is knowing the PPV earnings of Jones, Conor, and Izzy. They make at least 10 million each, so that's why he found the Deal disrespectful.

His outside endorsements should have no factor in what the UFC pays him/ or his UFC contract. His outside endorsements are what his management team works to get him and they take a pretty healthy cut of it too.

@@MMABoutsOfficial I didn’t know those figures were confirmed for Jones/Izzy/conor. Always been curious to know contractual details for those guys. But also to be fair conor has sold over a million PPVs and holds most of the top 10 PPV of all time with Floyd. So he’s in his own league and should be rewarded as such in my opinion. Wish ngannou was able to do the boxing fight in his deal and make 30+ million that way with them. But it looks like it all worked itself out.
@Thedevinwills
@Thedevinwills Жыл бұрын
@@Drizzylaflair I think if you want more than $1.50 you need to be deserving of that. You need to command the audiences to want to buy your PPV fights like o’Malley, Conor, and others do. He’s a very talented fighter with amazing knockout skills, but a lot of people aren’t too excited to pay for his fights just looking at the stats. Not sure why that is, but I guess there should be more points in the table for champions as a standard. You fight for cheap for so many years and once you wear the gold belt you should be rewarded as a UFC champion. 5% of the PPV would be $4.00. So maybe that’s the magic number at a PPv cost of $80. Hard to say

Venom pay premium bucks to ensure they are the only sponsor. As soon as fighters are allowed to use their own patches the value of the deal massively decreases. I think the reason the ufc can justify the only very small uptick in ppv points given to fighters, while having increased the cost of ppv so much, is because their business model has shifted away from ppv and towards television deals. We don’t often see them, but in many markets, tv stations pay big bucks to exclusively air ufc events. However, I also think that the ufc made this shift in part to reduce the bargaining power of the fighters. In the past, a big fighter could easily calculate their value to the company. Now a lot of that value is hidden in these TV contracts.

Francis is 100% right on the sponsorships, and it isn't just him who's said it Brendan Schaub, Mark Hunt and others have too. That Reebok deal was and is criminal, just simply Dana seeing fighters making money that he wanted I don't care what way they spin it. And it is the biggest joke that after they took away the fighters ability to have sponsors, they then covered the octagon in them. So they literally took the Reebok money, and then money from some of the companies that sponsored fighters. Here, take pennies on the dollar from this deal that we're making way more on, oh and we'll also have your sponsors thanks. That is called having your cake, and eating it too. Honestly, sponsored shorts looked way cooler anyway. It added to the raw, renegade feel the company had back then. I still love it and part of me always will, but I can't lie there was something about it back then that the corporate slick outfit they are now just doesn't have, and removing the sponsorships was a part of it. Truly a golden era, that we'll likely never see any resemblence of again.

Crazy how the UFC convinced bootlickers that Francis was the bad guy in this scenario. Then suddenly it was about him ducking Jones. C'mon. The UFC is like the IRS!! they want their cut even if that cut bleeds you dry!!

Ngannou's English is not great, which can make it easy to underestimate how smart he is. He comes across as a very humble, and gentle giant, but he is clearly also a man who is not easily manipulated, and knows how to stand up for himself in a mature, calm, and calculated way. I have so much respect for him.

Connor created a blue print for all these MMA fighters to try to get rich. The problem is that the blueprint might have been a one time or maybe two times shot. Connor got lucky that while he was on top, Maywether who was still at the top, gave him a shot. I think this is not easily repeatable.

@@EAmotion yeah he might fight fury but fury has never sold fight or has ever been as popular as Maywether, same goes for Nganno compared to Connor. Connor might not have been the best but he was certainly the best at selling his fights. He was the major drawer to UFC and even that was not enough, he needed Maywether to really make a lot of money. As I said, what Connor did is not easily repeatable

The UFC and Dana have always had it both ways. If your an independent contractor that needs to pay for everything leading up to and after a fight, such as travel, hotel, taxes, medical, training cost and many more, then why can't they Box or fight in any other organization. It's truly a form of modern day s l a v e r y. I love the UFC, but it's time these fighter are broken free from their master's

The Conor vs. Floyd fight possibly ruined Conor for mma. He was a ufc champion that lost in boxing, then never returned to glory in the cage. I understand why the UFC was against it. The fighters deserve a lot more money, but the Ufc is also making investments in these fighters. Can you still say you're the "baddest man on the planet" after Tyson Fury beats your ass in boxing?

The truth is that its difficult to stay at the top of heavyweight. His brand wasnt going to continue to grow for years with Jon Jones moving up. Although the ufc may pay a lower percentage, they also provide the largest platform to expand your brand which is hard to quantify. Mcgregor knew this and used the ufc brand to catapult himself. If Francis was the kind of draw he thought he was, the ufc would have paid him. Jon Jones is in the same boat. I hope Francis can contiue to grow his brand and wealth. Hes a good guy
