Perpetual Testing #280
“Mineshaft”
By WhyToExist aka LazyExcuse
Portal 2 Community Maps & Mods
Short, sweet, and very very deep ….underground.
That’s where you usually find a mineshaft anyway.
If it’s not underground, then that’s open cast mining. Very different.

"I mean they'll kill off a test subject in any manner possible, but a splinter is a step too farappearently" Weel, I mean a dead test subject can not sue. A surviving one with an injury because of an unprotected edge... That Cave Johnson was not just a handsome devil, but a smart one as well.

i never though about it that way, if they're just dead then the issue takes care of itself, but now i'm thinking Aperture would have some kind of Mandatory Employee Wellness tetanus vaccination administered by a robotic arm that jabs you every time you step into a rusty test chamber :) Thank you for watching and for commenting too!

i've been adding more of those little text notes to videos lately, i keep hearing me say things that really need a note or in this case making very strange noises lol I quite like the vintage cubes too, just because they fit the style so well and i like the idea that someone actually makes them instead of the automated production lines making the newer versions. Thank you for watching!

Very cool use of custom assets. Loved that look/setting. Too bad the elevators weren't the rickety old ones from the science spheres with extra groaning to make them a bit more forboding. As far the the old plywood cubes go, don't forget the added dangers of those staples that hold the edging on! Those things will give you a nasty gouge ;)
@ngeruma
@ngeruma Жыл бұрын
LazyExcuse/WhyToExist did a really good job with this one, it looked great and yeah using parts from the science sphere elevators would of been a really nice detail, they wouldn't have to be the whole thing but the rusted metals grates for the walls and doors with the rock walls visible through them as you went down would be really nice. The staples! i forgot about the staples! picture a big robotic Aperture arm coming at you with your mandatory employee wellness protocol tetanus jab :D

no that's true they didn't intend GLaDOS to turn out like that, but to be fair the entire history of AI themed science fiction probably should of given them a hint ;) and crap! i forgot about the asbestos! i don't even notice the itchy rashes anymore! Thank you for watching and for commenting too!

Yeah that would be like the perfect rough plot for a whole series of maps like this, you could work through puzzles deeper into the mine until you get all the way back to parts that still look like the salt mines from before Cave bought it. Thank you for watching and for commenting too :)

A splinter causing cube/any other aperture science material that employee is required to use to solve the puzzle would be a DIRECT OSHA violation on Aperture's side. GLaDOS is smart enough that she won't allow this. All other ways to die involve you being stupid which probably protects Aperture in some law. As someone who HAS been to a few mines, this map is absolutely spot on ! Very well detailed. If this does start a whole series of underground maps where Aperture is collaborating with various different mining companies around the world, I'm all for it. These mining maps could use aperture elements to break open certain aspects of the mine etc. to get you through multiple chambers. So many possibilities, really excited and really hope that this becomes a whole new map style. BTW I also suggested an annoying but small little puzzle called "The impossibly inaccessible cube" ages ago. Can you please check that once as well ?
@ngeruma
@ngeruma Жыл бұрын
Aperture would work out some way around the OSHA though, imagine if before entering a rusty test chamber you where greeted by the Automated Employee Wellness Representative in the form of a bloody great mechanical arm coming at you with a tetanus jab :D It would be cool if LazyExcuse/WhyToExist did do more with this map style and develop it more like you say about having to break through to more bits of the mine or move fallen rock and stuff like that, you could take the player deeper and deeper and even have bits abandoned from when it was a salt mine before Cave bought it. I'll make a note to do the impossibly inaccessible cube soon, it has been ages sorry about that. As always, thank you for watching and for the great comments too!
