Am I missing something? What is so genius about this flip? It's like they didn't even try. So basic. Don't get me wrong, it's a fine flip but to call it genius is just goofy.
@jordanestes1997 Жыл бұрын
I do think its pretty dope how they turn it up an octave and put effects on it for a small section of the beat. Its little things like that that are pretty creative, maybe the genius is in seeing the potential in such a weird sample. I wouldnt say they didnt even try, adding their own drums to it and also having different versions of the sample shows a little bit of effort
@kevin-bc2qr Жыл бұрын
@@jordanestes1997 they just crushed it, changed the warp mode to beat and messed with the slider. You need to take a look at the face to face by daft punk sample breakdown. Now that is genius.
@jordanestes1997 Жыл бұрын
@kevin did somebody upload a video on that song or something? People are almost meming that song at this point, i get it, daft punk face to face, i get it. If you havent, listen to the album since I left you by the avalanches, that's the sampling Bible in my opinion, holy water, sacred ground of sampling, theres like 1000 samples on that album all intricately put together, definitely not lazy, not even exaggerating that much, theres like 900 samples on it. Also, the way burial samples is pretty cool. Also, death grips saw the potential in something most people wouldn't, and considering the beat is noisy as fuck, but still sounds good, I'm gonna give them some props, kinda genius. It's fucking out there, I don't see why the actual technicality of it really matters, it's still creative. I'm one of those people who likes songs with just one chord in it and shit though, making that shit sound good is genius, but people can say it's just lazy, I think it takes some creative intuition though. They have a really interesting approach to sampling, they sample based on texture and energy almost, not musicality, which I think is cool, they sampled Serena Williams shouting for the chorus to system blower, and train sounds for the ending to the beat, shit is creative
