Great video... You summed up the changes nicely, and I totally agree with your opinion that the defense on the cross pass is already sufficient to stop the NHL 12 style scoring on the cross crease. They went way overboard with the changes to the goalie. Maybe they just wanted to make the 2 on 0 still very hard to score on, but it is a bit overboard.

As an actual goalie, I must say a cross crease play is the hardest play to stop, but they rarely get through thanks to the defense. Johnny you are totally right about the defense needing better AI and the goalies are a little to good at cross crease shots.

I agree, if he's diving BEFORE you shoot then you still have options, the goalie is just trying his best and playing the odds and %. the 1st clip has 2 righty's and the shot is on the backhand, even if he tried to square up. Goalie saved that one thanks to individual limb movement. The one at 1:52 with the crazy glove save is a problem.

In a way I understand what you mean by defending players. but it is also about how you choose to position your defense players. You can choose to have the puck shoot, then should the goalie who has a clear sight save. At the same time, you can be close to the second striker and tackle him when the puck reaches him if the pass comes, or lie down and cover the pass.

I like that the goalies do more desperation saves, but they do desperation saves on too many easy shots, even when the puck is going straight into their gloves. So not only do they do it too often but, as Johnny pointed out, too well.

If you want cross creases to go in, go to the gameplay settings and under goalies, adjust the sliders. You will be able to score more cross creases if you tone the goalie reaction time down.

I have only had a few crazy saves that had me saying ya right...overall, the goalies are slightly improved. You still get the occassional game (I play GM mode a lot so this is what I am going off of) where goalies give up 2-3 softies, which sucks. Especially up 3-1...nothing is worse that having to random shots beat your goalie glove side. Make that aspect a bit more real and its a near perfect game. The skating I like, again will need some tweaks but this game is the gateway to next years

I'm a goalie in real life. Cross crease passes can be a really easy stop if the goalie is reacting correctly. However, in the examples you showed this was not the case, but yet they made the save. There's a reason why diving saves to stop these play make highlight reels all the time: they are near impossible to do.

Also they start their save animation as soon as the receiver has his shoot button pressed. So if you hit the shoot button before the player gets the puck, which is required for a one-timer, the goalie knows that it will be shot, so they actual save animation starts before the shot is taken because the AI goalie knows it'll be shot. Because of this you can't trick the AI goalie into a desperation save and pass it back for the open net. The goalie knows 100% if it'll be a shot or not.

Well as u got the key you can still do cross creases(don´t know how to spell "crease", im german), you have to teach urselve to concentrate on aiming the shot, against goalies movement or a low shot is the key, working out fine for me.

If you're right stick doing faceoff hold right stick to the left with the LB pressed at the same time, and when the puck drops press down on the left stick and up on the right stick at the same time right when the puck drops. Same ruetin goes for left sticks. Its probably the best way to get the puck off faceoffs. Hope I sounded right :/ haha
