well, nhl 15 on last gen is pretty much the same as nhl 14, there was absolutely no improvements from the previous year. It's still way better than nhl 15 on next gen

@@gavfitzpatrick Probably a new NHL game out in a few weeks/months and EA want to try and hook new players. They did the same giving Battlefield 1 away with gold a few months before Battlefield V release. I would not be surprised to see Fifa being given away an a month or two.

You didn't mention the new skating mechanics, scouting in franchise, skill tree in be a pro, or the new offline legends teams. You went on about all the stuff found in previous NHL games like they were new... doesn't take a genius to figure out you never play NHL games. Sorry but poor review

Yeah, there is. I am having trouble connecting to others and even when we start the game often we got some error. There are so many menus now, as a EASHL players I need 5 minutes just to get to the point where I can play the game. Also, it seems that we can't have different character for every position because when I change my goalie name it gets changed all over across different positions. So far, when playing a drop-in game , at the end of game I get separated from my team members unlike in NHL18 where we would stay in the same lobby. Goalie is still buggy, every other poke check is a penalty. Maybe it will take some time getting used to it, but game feels like a complete mess so far.

They just say 81 players in ones or threes... so not sure what they mean by that. Are we just checking guys until it's the last man standing, or will we actually have goals to defend and score on?! Now I'm curious where they're going with this. Apparently FIFA added a mode like it as well this year.

The changes they made to Franchise mode are so wonderful. They really listened to the fans on it. Can't speak for the other modes though as I don't play them much.

Looks basically the same as NHL 18, and I bought that game for $10 on PS Plus. When are they going to bring in in depth career options. Agent stuff, detailed trade negotiations, team next gen chemistry and player dynamics??

Ign puts up a review of NHL 19. And talks about everything added into nhl 18. The least you can do is read off the EA list of additions to the game like the revamps in franchise with scouting active players to see the overalls for upcoming free agents.

Another small thing that would be great and make the game more realistic, is if they include an automatic type of engine mechanic where the player tries to avoiding colliding with the goalie, they always crash into the goalie. It would s so cool if they players would jump out of his way instead of crashing right into him like he’s not even there. Actually they should do that with all players on the ice. Have them try to avoid collisions automatically.

I used to play hockey all the way to NCAA, juniors and junior world championships - when I stopped, I didn’t play or watch it since 2002...I just spent most of last 24 hours playing this game, as myself back w. my WHL team...it’s healed me

Why does it seem like in the only one thinking that vr would be AWESOME for sports game??? Imagine having the camera in the crowd, controlling the game like you usually do but feeling like you are in the stadium??? It would be awesome and certainly easy To do... just put us in first person in the crowd.

You got to hand it to them, they factor in when you win the Presidents trophy you have absolutely no chance to win the cup. If you are new to the game you absolutely want to throw games at the end of the season to avoid having the best record. If you have the best record the glitch never allows you to win the cup those seasons.

This is annoying i just started my season with sabers and after 1 game most my starters are in ahl .. Eichel, Skinner, Dahlin like wtf how do I stop this from happening... I dont want to play AHL or have anything to do with it just an NHL season with my NHL roster

Oh yeeah, the mullet is awesome, but hey it would be nice to play the darn game as well. Trying to play 6v6 EASHL hockey, but can't cause it freezes most of the time or someone gets disconnected out of the game. The menus are frustrating to toggle (especially CHEL) , the servers are rubbish, the amount of poke check penalties, the bugs/glitches that still exist, cpu players are even worse/more annoying. And EA wanted to show their appreciation by giving us lame packs for HUT for loyalty. This is how much you love your fans, EA?! But hey yeah, those mullets are so awesome...

One thing really dumb about this dope game. In franchise mode you can't change player positions. For instance I drafted a defensemen who is 5 star at skating and 96 speed, 4 stars shooting amd 3 stars for defense. Clearly he should be a forward but i cant change his position type

just a reminder that the NHL games for the Wii got a more positive reception than their HD counterparts, and outsold them to the point that EA abandoned the HD games for awhile and focused soley on the Wii.

D Bechtel the problem is, that from my understanding these two reviews are equally standing side by side. If you compare them with no genre context it doesn’t make sense that this game is rated higher.

Joshua Z. Uhh yes it does. NHL 19 was seen to have made a lot of improvements to NHL 18 and is ultimately an excellent representation of the sport. Why dosent it deserve the score it got? Spiderman from what I've heard is also an excellent game which is why it got an excellent score. Games should be judged on their own merits . Wouldn't you agree ?

D Bechtel can’t make any comment on that since I haven’t played it. I stopped buying the newest nhl when 18 came out. And honestly this one looks and seems to play still way too similar to 17. Yeah the modes are cool but not a reason to buy in my opinion. But that’s just my perception.
