This was a special win for me as a Rangers fan. I sat in the hospital room w/my girlfriend while she was asleep watching this game, and the Rangers won it just a few hours before my daughter was born.

I remember when Callahan was drafted, and in his first few games with NY I said to my Ranger fan friends he would be the future captain of the team, and none of them believed me lol

If Briere made the penalty shot the game would have been even more exciting and would probably go down as one of the greatest games ever regardless of who one. So everyone in the comments stop attacking each other about each others team and just respect a good game when you see one

i am a flyers fan and thought both teams played well. It's obvious that the rangers out hustle the flyers the entire game even thought the flyers let up a bad goal the rangers were just better that day. But I don't understand why people are criticizing each team. I thought it was a hell of a game to watch and the best winter classic I have seen.

I know why you would think that, Flyers fan but the Flyerswere given a gimme goal when Lundqvist kicked out a huge rebound right to Schenn. Cancel out that goal and Rupp's second goal and you've got a 2-1 Rangers victory (ignore variables such as momentum loss/gain. Then take into consideration the coincidental minor penalty call that shouldn't have been called and the Flyers hooking of Gaborik and you'd know the refs tried to give you that game.

This was some early late 90s early 2000s hockey--when it was horrible. They let everything go, let the D pull massive interference as both teams ran the trap, and started calling the team that was leading for a bunch of crap at the end of the game. A talentless player in Hartnell being tough after the whistles, but useless during the game, and most importantly the Philly goaltending situation. The Callahan penalty and the penalty when the Ranger went into the net should be on here too.

Bobrovsky totally fucked that one up for the Flyers. This in my opinion was the only game the Flyers played this year against the Rangers where the Flyers should have won.

for arguments sake, i think giroux is overrated. its easy to have a lot of assists when jagr is on your line for most of the season. callahan actually had more goals than giroux this year, too.

i dont see how ppl are calling the game fixed.....the Flyers had a 2 goal lead! Its not like the Rangers scored goals off of Powerplays they scored 5 ON 5 GOALS. The Flyers choked and thats all there is too it. Briere could have scored on the PS but he didnt. The rangers won the game fair and square

@dajusta87 It's more dangerous, and just as boring. The head shots are because of increased skills in diagnosing the injuries. They used to just let you play if it was possible. They also let people do more vicious cheap shots b/c they won't let the other teams' enforcers take care of them. They just suspend them for a few games and fine them. If anybody that hit Crosby had to fight the league's top enforcers they would never touch him w/ a dirty hit.
