When the arena in Winnipeg was originally built, the main tennant was the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL). However, once the franchise in Atlanta decided to relocate, the new Jets became the main tennant in 2011.

1:03 A little update on this one. At the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, the Arizona Coyotes are set to be evicted from Gila River Arena. There has been an effort to build a new arena in Tempe, but nothing has made it off the ground on that part as of yet. Also, the NHL seems to have been reluctant to return to Quebec after the departure of the Nordiques in 1995, despite the opening of the 18,200 seat Videotron Centre in 2015. For the time being, that arena is being used by the QMJHL's Quebec Remparts.

On the Minnesota thing... The main metropolitan area in Minnesota is made up of two cites (twin cities) on different sides of the Mississippi river, Minneapolis and St Paul. There has always been a bit of a rivalry between the two. The teams want to draw from both cities and don't want to make the other city feel left out therefore they use Minnesota as it includes both cities, even though the Vikings, Twins, and T-Wolves are in Minneapolis and the Wild in St Paul. Incidentally this is also reason for the Twins name as it references the twin cities.
@jimjacobs17892 жыл бұрын
Same thing in the Tampa Bay area. There is no community called Tampa Bay. The two main cities, Tampa and St. Petersburg are about 20 miles apart and are separated by a portion of the Gulf of Mexico called Tampa Bay. The Lightning and Buccaneers play in Tampa and Tropicana Field, where the Rays play, is just west of Downtown St, Petersburg.

Regarding Enterprise Center, the opera house was there decades prior to the arena. While it's now called the Stifel Theater, its orignal name was the Kiel Opera House... hence why the arena, when it opened and for the first five or six years, was called Kiel Center. The old Kiel Arena was part of the opera house complex until it was torn down in the early 90s to make way for the new arena.

For TD Garden, the three buildings are actually part of a huge renovation that actually connect to the arena (they’re not separate). I’ve seen tons of pictures of them over a few years, and I still really love it because of all the features and ways they constructed it. I’m from Chelmsford, Massachusetts which is close to Boston which is the best 4-team American sports city so far with 38 titles (the New York City teams have 37), and your channel needs many more subs, because it’s amazing 😊 And, yes, I think the whole arena looks a whole lot better because of these renovations 👍🔥 P.S: TD Garden now has a new scoreboard called “Hub Vision”

The reason the saddledome looks so small is that there is a third seating level on each side, but it's hidden from most angles due to the curve of the roof
@YesJamesIsAsian2 жыл бұрын
Nashville’s bowl is set up with those asymmetrical end zone seats since most concert stages are built at one end of the bowl (the Bud Light Fan Zone end in the picture). The other end has 3 tiers of seating as a result so they can maximize the number of people able to watch a concert. Also as another fun fact, it was originally built to be a basketball arena, so there’s no proper press box like other NHL arenas since basketball media normally sit down near the court. They had to retrofit seating for the press in the upper levels but it basically puts them amongst the fans in the 300 level.

And yes I know the horror stories about them and their structural integrity issues but I would of much rather tried anything possible to keep them around instead of demolishing years of history. Enterprise Center was built on the site of Kiel Auditorium, an arena attached to the opera house which shared a stage. It originally was called Kiel Center before selling out to naming rights. The auditorium was home to the NBA's St. Louis Hawks before they moved to Atlanta. I love MSG. The seats are all great and it's a great atmosphere. The only real issue is the ticket prices. Ever since the renovation back in 2014 (I think that year) the tickets have become practically unaffordable for a non rivalry game. Other than that access to the arena is easy from the Island. Train from Ronkonkoma and your there in about two hours and you just walk up a few stairs and you are already inside.
@chrisr4804 Жыл бұрын
The seats are definitely not all great. You don't want to be above row 12ish in the 200 level or the stupid bridge blocks your entire view of the scoreboard. They put in video boards that face the crowd but you lose a ton of atmosphere and feel like you are outside the arena when you are behind the bridges.

Scotiabank Arena in Toronto has it's own microbrewery onsite. I don't think you can say that about many sports venues.

The Buffalo arena is located in a very windy area close to what once was Buffalo’s inner harbor, which is very, very windy. The Habs haven’t won a cup since leaving the Forum, now that was an intimidating arena!

Gotta admit... I'm super hyped for UBS Arena. My fondest sports memories with my dad are a) seeing Ralph Wilson Stadium from the inside while passing through Buffalo in '98 (thanks to an understanding groundskeeper that August morning), b) sitting in the bleachers at old Yankee Stadium watching the Yanks demolish the Rays in '03, and c) every damn time we made it to the Barn to watch the Islanders, though a time in the late 90's where we watched the Islanders beat the Jets 1-0 stands out. Because the game was stupidly boring (the only score was a fluke shot from the center line from someone on the 4th line :P) but we were in the front of the upper deck with the _most_ enthusiastic drunken fans ever so it balanced out. Gonna miss that crazy building, even if they do keep it open for special events (they might not), but I like how they're trying to make UBS 'the Barn But Better'.

Fun fact: Since the Blue Jackets are Civil War-themed, Nationwide Arena has a replica Civil War cannon that fires a really loud salvo every time the Blue Jackets score a goal or win a game.
