I think emergency goaltenders is my favourite quirk in all of sports. Every story brings a smile to my face. Glad to see one of them get game time. Foster was awesome.

Foster is the best one by far! But probably the best comedy line opportunity missed, when he was interviewed in the room after the game! He should have told reporters he'd be seeking a long-term deal after that shutout performance! lol

Earned it too. He had a few good save and a highlight reel stop that any great would be proud to have on their belt (uncontested one timer snap shot from a drop pass to the slot right to left glove side on a Stasny? That's hard to do with any kind of control and he did.

I don't know about everyone else, but I can't help but smile when I see these stories... It's just such a cool experience for these guys and I think it's so great that these NHL orgs just call up local AAA Minor goalies to fill in and just give them the NHL dream experience for one night. I'm sure everyone is a bit as jealous/envious as I am, but I'm also really happy for all these guys. That's such a cool opportunity! :)

I suspect so. Teams usually give rings out to anyone who makes it onto the roster, even for a single game (and even if they don't play). Though I do wonder if the "no pay" rule affects that.

So basically u can play anyone including someone who isn’t in the nhl. They’ll sign a 1 day pro contract to play in the game

Emergency goalie makes for a great story. Scott Halpin, came out of the crowd at the Cow Palace near S.F. to replace The Who's drummer Keith Moon who passed out from a drug overdose. Emergency drummer. Amusing ain't it.
