I was born in 1980 and discovered Blues hockey in 1989. Talk about great timing for a young hockey fan. It was amazing. We had to write in our journals in grade school about whatever was on my mind, and 90% of them were about how the Blues did the night before and what Brett Hull did. He's my all time favorite player. I modeled my game after him and mostly focused on my shot, and I was good at that and passing. My hands were like concrete and I was an okay skater. His personality mirrored my own in my younger days. I was outspoken and brash and sometimes cocky. I've never met him.

@@axljoel80 long story short I got to be at one of Brett Hulls birthday parties at his house in St. Louis. Someone in our family had a catering business and I helped work the party since they knew I was such a huge fan. Was the most surreal and awesome experience for like a 12 year old kid at the time. I was obviously the youngest one there just doing little tasks and he went out of the way to say hi and talk to me then when I was leaving from across the yard he shouted out bye to me and and said my name it was the coolest thing ever. Brett Hull is truly an amazing guy.

Brett Hull and Chris Chelios were 2 players that - as a Red Wings fan - I used to HATE with a passion in the 1990s. The fact that I now absolutely LOVE those guys is STILL a little surreal to me. But they both definitely earned the love. Nice video.
